Time to abandon it

For years people have been asking for storage in the stations for the materials and resources collected, being able to walk on the planets and build outposts, add a videochat directly in game with the group's participants, as they are doing on Star Citizen, an audio / video player, make the planets with realistic textures and not all the same with a single color pattern

Who are the people that have asked for those things? I certainly haven't.

I'd like more pirates to shoot though. Ah, Frontier, if you're reading this, please add more pirates. I don't want any of the other stuff, but I honestly don't care whether it's there or not so eh. Do what you must. Or don't. It's fine.

But please, more pirates.

After many years of play I think it's time to abandon it, in the end you realize that the game has too many limits that I hope will be introduced in the future, now everything is limited to grinding and making money and once you get the ship and build properly you have finished the game because everything only leads to making money and nothing else, everything brings you back to this.

I agree with your general sentiment regarding snail-paced development, but as soon as Star Citizen is mentioned i think of two problems, one is the way its ships (despite their impressive appearance) move, which i can only describe as toy-like, but worse than that is its game-breakingly slow framerate. Personally i just can't play a game that has less of a framerate than a 1950's Godzilla stop-motion film. If i leave Elite there's no other game that gives that 'real spaceship' feel.

Huh... guess that other dude was right about No Man's Sky having more players now... Well, they deserve it at this point. Hello Games has gone above and beyond (no pun intended) to make up for their shortcomings... and with a tiny fraction of the resources of FDev as well.

This 2020 update better blow our minds or else only the hard core apologists and complacent '84 players will be left.

Honestly, I really have to tip my hat to both dev companies on this score; keeping a consistent playerbase in such a niche market is not an easy thing to do. I think ED actually averages slightly higher on Steam charts measuring hour to hour players on any given day than it did years ago when I first started playing.

I also see a fair amount of new players asking for help in discord, which considering the game has next to zero advertising presence on Steam now and has been out for many years, i wonder where they are coming from. Obviously Elite Dangerous still has something to offer.

As we all know, Elite Dangerous is only played through Steam. And one of those games had a well-publicized update recently...

If the 2020 update doesn't blow our minds, do you promise to go?
I wouldn't give you the satisfaction... I may not play the game, but I'll be here to make you reply to me 🤣

OP just take a break for a while, for many people the game doesn't begin until you get the ship you want.

I think my break now is approaching four years. I simply can't bring up any motivation to play this game anymore.
Sadly, I do not have any other use for my Warthog now

Yes I have to be 'the one' to ask, but if you haven't played in four freaking years, why are you still on the forums? Are you hoping for some magical change in the game, are you upset that others still enjoy the game, just what are you hoping to achieve by being on a forum of a game you don't like and haven't played in four years?

So going on your statement that you haven't played in four years, did you quit before or after Horizon's dropped (which was around 4 years ago). If it was prior to Horizons then yes you have missed out on a lot, but then you probably know that because you still frequent the forums.

Sorry if I am sounding sarcastic and catty, but I just can't fathom why someone would still hang around a forum of a game he hasn't played in four years. Scared to think what you would be like on the forums if you still played the game then … ;)

I agree with the general sentiment of your post, but disagree, that FDev does not plan to improve the game. If that was the case, they would not re-work the code base of ED for the 2020 update.

So much assumptions Oo
I do not believe I will start playing E: D again. Maybe I will have a look if planets with atmosspheres were ever implemented, but I don't really see that coming.

Basically I'm here for the Odd thread and to sprinkle some salt here and there :sneaky: After horizons I played for like 10 hours and 2 or 3 more to check on the new stuff, but it wasn't enough to keep me truckin'
I was a DDF level backer and although I had my fair share of fun with the game, lets carefully say it did not turn out to be the game I hoped for.
Even Empyrion made me play longer.

Amazing how much nicer it is around here when you put the useless troll contributors on Ignore.. No being called a 'white knight' for no other reason than you don't agree..

The game hasn't really progressed much (positively) in the past four years (IMHO), so it's not suprising some people are are growing tired of it. TBH, the amount of hours I've (& many folks) spent on it was/is epic. That said, I've been in a circling pattern having basically given up with it two or so years ago, diving in now and then for a quick view of what's changed (or hasn't). I'm now hoping at long last, next years much hyped update will finally see some bar raising gameplay/mechanics... Can but hope!

Star Citizen - Could it be it will actually end up being a reasonable and playable game? Can but hope!

Nope, I did assume (hate that word but it is apt here) that you where only a sad little troll - and I was right :D

I hate to say it but I haven't played in a month either been playing NMS instead and that is fun. For me ED is feeling like its stagnating as nothing is happening with anything in the game yeah we got a placeholder Golconda CG which is now over so now what?
