And voiced "Call to Arms" or those who want to flee the conflict in systems at war. That would add so much to immersion.Yes for this, gimme voiced pirates, and a very relieved sounding pilot on the distress signal USS

Thanks Commander. Regarding the BGS the aspect I really do like about it is it make me (well my toon Commander Jason Burke) feel insignificant. He/I just do our thing, taking whatever missions we deem acceptable, doing a little mining, exploration or bounty hunting on the side to liven things up. Just trying to make our way in this galaxy. We know we are major players in a galaxy with zillions of inhabitants and that is the way it should be. Too many games make the player the centre of attention, even if they start out as in innocent bystander within a few minutes he/she are taking down highly experienced foes. I like the fact that if I don't play for a while the galaxy gets along damn fine without me - as it should! One more thing, for all its bugs und other problems, I love the BGS. How every action has some influence in the galaxy, no matter how insignificant you may feel, even if it is only a drop in a bucket, it may cause it to overflow.
Or yesterday, when I just dropped into normal space next to a white dwarf, and marveled its beauty, how its light blinded me in VR and how it filled the whole cockpit with its icy white glow. So bright and dangerous.

As a passionate BGS-player, I'm totally with you in that case. My Squad is currently struggeling to take over a system with 10B inhabitants. We're on it since March 3305. It's really a struggle and that with about a dozen commanders in the cockpit every day. And as if that's not enough, the bubble is beginning to get very crowded with PMF's. Currently we are at a "feud" with another faction who are claiming one of our controlled systems. It's beginning to be a "small scale" PowerPlay. I'm just beginning to ask myself, if bgs is really the "small scale" or is it PP?Thanks Commander. What can I say, I like being a nobody
That is exactly why I consider myself an 'Independent Contractor' within the game. I will take missions from whomever I wish, will gladly take anyone's credits for services rendered as long as the missions don't wobble my in game moral compass too far. Hell I am fully allied with every faction in my system, as in 100% in their good books, how much of a fence sitter am I lolAs a passionate BGS-player, I'm totally with you in that case. As much as I respect "Lone Wolfs", but woking together for a big goal is really fun. We coordinate our efforts, one part is defending, the other part is "offending" the target-system and right now, because of the "feud", our PvP-Commanders are involved too. It's really satisfing to see how all parts of the game come together. Especially when the other Squad is not "hiding" in PG or Solo. "Blaze Your Own Trail" they say...We blaze our trail together! That is exactly why I consider myself an 'Independent Contractor' within the game. Commander you just demonstrated one of the best features of this game - that there is no right or wrong way to play it. You and I play the game very differently yet both correctly for our styles and our enjoyment. One day I might consider to become social with others but at this stage I am just happy blazing my own trail at my own speed doing what I enjoy doingAs much as I respect "Lone Wolfs", but woking together for a big goal is really fun. Again those subtle things I almost forgot, because it's so subtle. Exactly...you can hear and feel the weight of your ship on High-G Bodies.Dust ...
firstly in the industrial stations (...glad i don't live there) vs the swanky places
secondly I just went from a .2 G world to a 2.2 g world with a full load BETTY's engines were growling trying to keep our speed sensible and on the 2.2 g world there was heaps more dust. FD didn't have to have a line of code to equate dust with amount of thrust but they did and it is awesome, it made BETTY 'feel' heavier hearing and seeing how hard she was working
Love it! Great in the SRV too.I have another one too...
Ever bothered to enjoy the view of a sunrise / -set through the ice-flowers of a cooled down ship? The glares are just amazing. Since I first recognized it, I always shut my ship completely down when ending a session whilst on exploration. When you log in again it has some feeling like waking up in the morning at a trekking camp, a cup of hot coffee in your hands.
Hmm the crunch of the SRV tyres as it goes over ice and snow. In fact all the external sound, why do we even have it. We are all intelligent enough to know there is no sound in the vacuum space, yet FD deemed it necessary to give us such wonderful aural highlights when running around an airless planet. Just think what they will do with an atmospheric one!Again those subtle things I almost forgot, because it's so subtle. Exactly...you can hear and feel the weight of your ship on High-G Bodies.
You notice the sound when it's gone, I got my canopy shot out today 12 min flight home no main HUD no sound but my breathing.Hmm the crunch of the SRV tyres as it goes over ice and snow. Exactly what I meant! What a view! And worth to mention the silent crackle when the flowers begin to bloom.Love it! Great in the SRV too.
To me, that is the most immersive sound in the game, the sound of your own breath when the canopy goes missing. And I know I was probably imagining it, but I am still sure the breathing got quicker and more ragged the longer I had to go to get to safety. God it was and still is impressive - and again something FD did not need to do for the game but by doing so made the game so much better. You notice the sound when it's gone, I got my canopy shot out today 12 min flight home no main HUD no sound but my breathing.
Oh yeah and ALIX reminding me how long I had to live.
edit: was actually pretty cool
Reminds me of a training-fight with one of my mates. Wasn't aware that my canopy broke till I wondered why everything sounded so damped. First I thought my ears fooled me, so focused I was to the fight! You notice the sound when it's gone, I got my canopy shot out today 12 min flight home no main HUD no sound but my breathing.
