Yesterday I went back to get meta alloys to sell again , a TDC popped up at 3.30 minutes 9k out then one at 30 minutes 12k out and 33 minutes at 9k out again , the final one at 41minutes at 13k .
Pirates scanned me at 25minutes , poppped heat sink and nipped over to other side of the wreck going through the middle. All in a clipper with D rated scanners. All in solo.

IIRC pirates could start to show up around the time the toxic cloud dispersed, perhaps they are out of work rescue ships.

the rng gods have been cruel to me. after my 1st HR session where I got 2 of them I have gone 3 hrs with none.
now the CG has been extended (segue but I wish FD would dial back on doing that. I get it if it's gonna end in a few days but without meddling the current CG had gone on long enough to allow it to end properly. it removes any even thin veneer of player relevance.

but anyway I have gone back to mining to make sure I dont drop out of the 50% I may end up going for the 25%

Since the recent update to allow TDCs to be sold I haven't found a single one (total estimated 6 hours now spent on and off over the last two weeks at SOL reloging every 15 to 30 minutes). Until the update I had found nearly a dozen in about the same amount of time, which I have used to upgrade a dozen of my ships... I still have another 22 to go, but at this rate (6 hours, zero found) it will take me an infinitely long time to finish....

Same for me - haven't seen one since the last update.

I generally try once or twice/day and linger in the instance for an hour or more collecting Meta Alloys...

not gonna lie. after finding 2 in just over an HR right before the update I have had multiple sessions maybe totalling 5 hours and not a sniff.
it's hard to be certain in elite if it is intended dialling back, if it's just bad rng luck or if FD accidentally broke something. historically all 3 things have happened in this game

yeah. They’ve definitely nerfed them. Too many anecdotes to be otherwise. Check out discord. Lots of people asking where they went.

The fact that there are so few in sale shows just how rare they are.

I’ve found well over 100 mats like organic circuits and propulsion elements 30 meta alloys since my last TDC (pre update).

By the way, bedsides selling, unlocking the engineer and cargo rack, what are meta alloys used for?

This kind of RNG harks back to the dark days of FDEV when this kind of thing was considered Gameplay by the devs.

Just had another hour in the zone but no hits... I think I'm going to have to call it a day and give up on the preengineered ones and just G5 engineer them myself.


Extending the CG another week reduces the amount of content FDEV have to release though, so the bean counters will be all over it...

Just spent 1.5 hours in Sol collecting Thargoid bits and at the 60t mark a titan drive component popped up. So they do exist, it just takes time.
Btw, where do you drop off those biopods? Or should I better keep those people in cold storage?

In general? Search and Rescue under station Contacts. But sometimes if you use Inara to filter for better prices you can find carriers wanting a bunch for whatever reason.

If they made it so you could put x amount of TDC for sale on the carrier rather than people having excess to your entire inventory of them might help them be more available in general.
Have got 50 but only want to sell 10 of them sorta option.

Was thinking about other stuff mainly , someone came along and wiped out all my bromellite , meta alloys and a bunch of other stuff , osmium etc. , all at max price so I’d have some left over but enough so someone could get enough to unlock an engineer sorta thing. Made 28bil off of it all though , so there’s that.
Woulda liked to only sell half of each commodity, as someone mentioned you can do buy orders but not sell orders

True, and worth remembering. An outstanding sell-order becomes invisible when the commodity sells out, but immediately reappears when more of the commodity appears in the Carrier's hold.

IIRC the only safe solution is to put up a BUY order on the same commodity (which overrides and cancels the sell order), and then delete it.
