i think the goids are going to mars to get their artfacts back. since we were not the first on mars could be old goid tech. but who knows till it gets there.

2 schools of thought for me.

1. Given Frontiers new feature of Colonisation, maybe its going to do "something" that renders a large portion of the bubble broken in some way hence the need to spread out further. Although I find this unlikely as that would force gameplay on Commanders that choose not to engage with the Thardgoid war into gameplay they dont want.

2. It going to broadcast a surrender, peace terms or something that brings Thardgoids into the regular game that isn't war.

3. Running away...heads back to Thargoid staging post and gives away it's location
4. They need a holiday, Lemon Tops on Saltburn beach

The realisation that between the aforementioned apocalypse and the about-to-happen one, they can get away with having Earth and/or Mars not be 1:1 copies of what we know of Earth and/or Mars for planetary landing on them when that comes about. Clever move, FDev!
