Titan Thor is vulnerable!

If you are able participate in Thargoids content after 3 months, then I must think about how much have ED changed from times when I started play this game (9 years ago).
yep i hear ya and obviously i had tons of help from nice vet pilots giving me advice & tips & such . Plus of course it's much "easier" for someone like me coming into EliteD starting now in year 10 of a somewhat "polished" game.

i've been told the previous original version of Thargoid content & access ( side quests or whatever ) was EXTREMELY difficult ? i've also been told , if i so choose, i can even still partake in some of those original harder side-quests or mini-missions and such?
Have a hotkey for it so you don't need to mess with fire groups
i already have it assigned to a very comfortable button within my Flight-stick
It's easier to get past in Solo mode because there will be just one pulse. Multiplayer modes are also multi-pulse modes.
ahhhhhh ok THAT ^ is why i was getting rek'd then ( well, one of the reasons lol )

i'm def. gonna try my next few runs in solo mode and see if i do better yep

If you are able participate in Thargoids content after 3 months, then I must think about how much have ED changed from times when I started play this game (9 years ago). Three months was for me to get fully equipped Cobra mk3 and feel comfortable flying it without fear of rebuy return to sidey :D
Which, nine years ago, would have been a perfectly adequate ship to participate in the Thargoid content (look at "Unknown Artefact", maybe attempt to drag it to a station without your ship falling apart), so the relative progress maybe hasn't changed all that much :)

One of my commandos only runs Cobras, and she's been fine getting to all the Titans - though normally it takes a couple of runs to get the 2M. And the buffeting in the cloud is quite extreme. Though not as bad as for Eagles ;)

Try solo visit USS 8-9 with Hydra ... personally I tried attack it only once (better would be say flee as fast as possible :D ) in fight around attacked station (that was really brutally crazy for me). I sadly have only limited knowledge about AXI combat, you can for sure get perfectly accurate info from AXI pilots (look at https://antixenoinitiative.com/ ), but you can get really tough combat in USS and thargoid combat zones (in space). There for sure will be more, you can have very much fun with Thargoids if it fits your playstyle.

Difference in combat now/before is in amount of available players knowledge and also in "hardware" available for us ... today have humans (players) much better equipment for Thargoids fighting and survival in those fights.

Yes , but again: It was my 1st time ever, so i wasn't exactly sure when to fire it off and for how long to hold it down.
I have been trying for a few days and finally got past the pulse yesterday, I pulled the trigger when the wave front was maybe half way to me and held it down till things changed back from bluish.

It is very impressive if overwhelming when you get through to the Titan itself, must last longer when I get there next time.

Already watched this one here---> https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/titan-thor-is-vulnerable.627368/post-10416399

hmm, i dunno 'bout that lol this is hardest "endgame" content in EliteD .

Perhaps u guys who have been here for 5 or 10 years make it look "easy" , but for 3 month newbs like me who just started 1st time TITAN run today ( twice ) it seems pretty dang hard to me lol . ( but yeah, let's see how many runs of practice i can fit in before 'Thor' blows up )
Be fair the Titans have only been here a year or so which means in my case most of my 8 years in the game doesn’t apply.

darn , i'll probably miss out then ugh oh well maybe for the last TITAN in a few weeks i'll be better equipped/practiced by then.

yeah i just realized my speed-boost was a bit low , because i had mistakenly Engineer'd my thrusters the wrong type. But i fixed that tonite , so hopefully i should be able to out-run those 'swarms' better yep.

However, i was told the actual interdictions ( in supercruise ) are totally random RNG luck , no?
Pretty much, though SCOing to reduce the time should reduce the opportunities RNG has to get you.

My earlier Thargoid War stuff was in an Orca so I keep wondering what’s gone wrong, why is my boost so slow, in my Python 2.

Got my free (well, ingame credits not Arx) P2 and disappointed for AX, I will be going back to K2 for next titans, however, it may have other uses beside Titan Bombing.
Twice now, 1 core - 5M, 2nd run after a few minutes repairs, got 5 vents then shooting the core, but all hell let loose and I had rebuy before the payout message - checked Transactions and only got the 5M. :(

On the plus side, the SCO is great in P2 - but I was used to the rolling around in K2.

P2 7 Optional slots - paper thin with AFMU, Repair Limpets and shieldless (a single 2D HRP :( )
K2 10 Optional slots - 2 more HRP + 1 MRP(y)

P2 6A LEPP (n)(low emissions power plant for keeping cold - 18%)
K2 7A LEPP(y)

P2 6 Utils - only need 4 for Titan Bomber
K2 4 Utils - fine

P2 6 HP (I cannot use 6 as Power Usage too high, even with AFMU, SCA, FSD, TPN all off) 5 used 1 empty/wasted(n)
K2 5 HP just right (Nanite, TVBeam + 3EAXMR)(y)

Too late now to change as going down fast, but will try Titan salvage with a P2 - back to the last exploded titan debris field too test it.

You can pack numerous HS on P2 which have much higher damage compared with clipper… one run at titan with zero heat should be easy with enough damage. Disadvantage is relatively small space for serious pilot errors. Imo perfect titan attacker for any skilled pilot … for pilots like myself I prefer bigger repair capabilities which allows multiple runs with bigger repairs.

ok thanks for the info !

First things first ... gotta see if i can even survive/complete ONE Titan bombing run 🚀

yeah i guess i probably should've outfitted my Python mk2 for this type of content , but instead i'm using my MAMBA....without shields lol

i have a few hours left here before 'Thor' goes byebye to see whether or not this shieldless Mamba choice was utterly futile.

Well I have on the nth attempt today got back in to Titan Thor and this time managed to do several attack runs the last of which were shieldless in an attempt to reduce heat.

the last of which were shieldless in an attempt to reduce heat.
yeah that's why i outfitted my MAMBA without shields , because i'm at only 17% heat at the moment.

i was also told (by some helpful pilot vets ) that shields are "useless" against Thargoids since they do their own special type of "absolute" damage?

im a big fan of low power low draw engineered shields. they stay below 20% heat when you need it and are great for titan bombing or spires

Not “useless”, just not recommended for most builds due to phasing damage (though it is only ~10%, and generally negligible unless your hull underneath is made of paper) and that they make the ship’s hitbox larger. It’s also a matter of then using utility slots for shield boosters over other, more useful stuff. Not to mention it restricts the use of silent running pretty significantly.

Personally, I would rather consider a shielded build for a large AX ship than for a small or medium, which benefit from them far less.

I find I can do titan bombing runs in a P2 without much damage at all if any and run out of ammo before any real need to leave for other reasons.

Later stages you do take a wee bit but that's what skill does. know when to go in, avoid incoming fire and don't feel bad about aborting a run if the opposition is too hot for the time being.

P2 shieldless here. Hits so much harder than the Krait MkII I was using previously. 10M solo per run, 16M with a teammate per run.
Build here P2 Bomber Repair limpet controller, AFMU and FSD power down when hardpoints deployed.
