You are way out on a limb here. Below is one of the more recognised definitions, and I can't see any of those points getting anywhere near who you player a video game in open mode.People who do this, whether in real life, or in an immersive computer game like E: D, are sociopaths
I'm a trader, I have guns and shields as I expect to be attacked by pirates, (though this never actually happens, they all seem to be more interested in miners) it also means I keep an eye on where traffic is concentrating knowing it will likely attract gankers and thus be somewhere to avoid or take precautions.
Or maybe you are just wrong? Hmmm no, not maybe.
There is no victim blaming without, you know, actual victims. And no, losing pixels in a video game does not make you a victim. Also, it absolutely makes sense to say "git gud" in the context of a video game in which you can actually get good, which in turn is absolutely going to affect the outcome of player encounters.
Once you've clicked the 'Open' button, PvP is exactly as consensual as it needs to be.
It's not explicitly, no, but then it is not against it either, so take your pick. And playing in Open is not a consent to PvP

Nope. It's just saying "I want to play with other players". It is not an invitation or a consent to be ganked. That part is on the psychology of the gankers, and nobody else.
if you have a problem with open, don't play openWhich brings us back to the OP's suggestion of a 'No PVP' flag on Open.
Something which would make sense, at least to me. PvP folks would get people who don't mind fighting with them, might present a challenge (i.e. fun) and the rest can just go about their daily lives without being bothered by idiots out to ruin their day.
You are forgetting that quite a few players play in open for the potential danger that it represents, where a meeting could become either a collaboration or a fight, and you don't know which. Personally I would really like to preserve this.Which brings us back to the OP's suggestion of a 'No PVP' flag on Open.

if you have a problem with open, don't play open
already told you to stop playing open if you have a problem with it.And?
Also, except it isn't "Massively Multiplayer", since I can hop into a private group or solo any time I like.
Surely there ought to be some RP pre-amble to having someone become "your deadliest enemy", rather than just "You were there, I was bored, boom - your game is ruined because of me - have a nice day"?![]()
and you can face a trusted ally or your deadliest enemyAnd?
then why make a drama about it here?I thought we'd already established that I don't, and the reasons for it?
OP's suggestion was intended as a means so that people like me (and there are thousands like me) could enjoy the other benefits of Open play.
You are forgetting that quite a few players play in open for the potential danger that it represents, where a meeting could become either a collaboration or a fight, and you don't know which. Personally I would really like to preserve this.

and calling people sociopathsI'm responding to a suggestion on the official forums - having a discussion as to its merits and the reasons why it's needed.![]()
you are not contributing merits, this isn't powerplay nor is powerplay being discussed.I'm responding to a suggestion on the official forums - having a discussion as to its merits and the reasons why it's needed.
What are you contributing to the discussion?![]()
already told you to stop playing open if you have a problem with it.
Again, an exaggerated affirmation, that could only really apply if the player that loses the ship didn't have enough for the rebuy and had to start from scratch something that can also happen against NPCs, or someone lost weeks of exploration data, which can also happen is solo mode. The only difference is the victims perception of the motives behind the attack: if it happens against an NPC we rage against ourselves or against Frontier, if against a player we transfer it all to the other player - why is that?your game is ruined because of me
