To some of my fellow imperial Commanders, what's wrong with you??

Greetings,
I am in no way a supporter of Senator Denton Patreus, i even dislike him and think that he has a greedy and arrogant charisma.... BUT, what a shame that i have to fight against fellow cmdrs in the combat zones in Quivira. The Feds, as observed in intergallactic forums, are undermining the hole realm of the Empire. It should be expected to see filthy federal scum fighting against the Empire under false flag but to fight against imperial soldiers..... what a shame and disappointment that is in my eyes. Exactly what the enemys of the Empire would want. I guess they're sitting in their caves, laughing at our hysteria, started by the assassination attempt on our beloved Emperor.
May some of you dare to explain your actions?
Cmdr Sephiroth Lassan
Count of the Empire

Oh look, another one of the countless posts that should be in Lore and Roleplay and is not.

And people wonder what's that subforum is struggling.

someone please move this, and OP, good post, but put it in the roleplay forum if it's roleplay which this is.

His faction has been implicated in the attempted assassination of the Emperor. He's defending those people. This causes one to question whether he himself might have been involved. Is it any wonder that Imperials are opposing him?

It's even easier to just not read the thread and ignore it.

What's going on in the empire is of passing interest to me; I am 25,000ly from there and whatever happens while I'm away is going to happen.

Perhaps if there are pieces worth picking up, I'll see what I can do.

Didn't want to spoil the general discussion
Thanks for reminding

You can just hit "Report this post" on the original - it's a direct line to the mods, who will be happy to move it for you. Just say, "Hi mod team, please move this thread to XYZ if appropriate, thanks" and you're golden.

Hear, hear! From my post in the community goals thread:

Any Commander who calls themselves an Imperial should be ashamed to be killing Imperial pilots for the benefit of a non-Imperial power. No matter who you support within the Empire or how intense the internal bickering becomes, we are all first and last servants of the Emperor and Empire and should act like it.

Neither the Emperor nor the Senate has announced a conclusion or authorized any action regarding the alleged assassination attempt. At this point we can only speculate regarding the truth.

I always find it somewhat strange that so many people flock o the Empire and outside of the one cool looking ship I just don't see the appeal. I understand the draw to play as the bad guys, but they're not cool bad guys, not Darth Vadar bad, not Kratos angry badass bad, they're just this foppy, arrogant, one percenter bad. They're Halliburton bad, dull bad, like the idiot character that you're meant to laugh at bad, the guy that gets covered in marshmallow in Ghostbusters bad.

Choosing the Empire, or at least Patreus or Torval specifically, to me is like choosing hanging out with Alan Sugar or Donald Trump over Rage Against the Machine. Just soulless, money and status obsessed bores that you wouldn't want to be seen talking to at a party.

If reliable, waterproof evidence is presented that Patreus has anything to do with it, i'll be the first to try and collect his head.... Until then, he is an innocent man ( in that regard)

I'm not one of the ones fighting against him. Though I'm not fighting for him, either, and have no inclination to do so. I was merely pointing out a reason some Imperials would oppose him.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
I stand where I've always stood: for the Empire. For the legacy of Duval. I carry the honor of his name on my shoulder as my fathers did before.

As for Patreus, the evidence is not yet in. In the time of choosing I will choose, but that time is not yet upon me.

Oh, and thread moved. ;)

Why do people avoid the RP forum? XD

Because people in the past didn't use it because they paid no attention to its existence? That's kind of a stupid reason.

I am not looking for an easy solution, I am looking for the common sense solution.

foppy, arrogant, one percenter bad.

You also just described the Federation, if you look them up and read their background.

The Empire is arguably more meritocratic, from an objective standpoint, at least it is portrayed that way in the lore.

Also, I love Rage Against the Machine, but I wouldn't want them running a government XD

Amen Brother....or Sister if we are RPing ;)......We fight for the Duval line, the one true successor, but being an honorable society with true justice high in our Imperial system(unlike the Fed mercs) we will see just how involved Patreus was or was not, either way we fight together stronger and will never yield to the pathetic and slimy forces of the Federation and Alliance, hail the Empire!

I'll certainly prefer RATM than Donald Trump to spend my time with, as far as the historic databank is to be trusted but how in (whatever your home planet) are you able to judge a people as a whole? What is bad, exactly? Are politicians everywhere in the universe not always pretty much the same, regarding lust for power and self centered decisions. Every society ever existed has this kind of drive in their upper and lower classes. All of them hiding their true intentions, clouding them with words and phrases ( Raised Fist, by the way ;-) ).
The Empire is the home i chose and always will be. Not because they seem badass to some people, i couldn't give less about that and or the clipper. They treated me well and saved my very existence and i have family and friends here.
Also, don't trust the news. Everybody is biased.
So long Cmdr
Ps.: Although i really liked the Clipper as long as i had flown it

You would be deaf and die of a liver desease pretty soon :-D

Senator Patreus' Actions in the Quivira are a private enterprise, so one's fealty to the Empire or lack there of should, should not factor in to the equation.
Likely only his Cliens would be compelled to fight for him, he rest is mercenary activity

As to his Guilt or innocence, note his careful wording.

"The very idea that one of my own would dare instigate such an attack without my knowledge is preposterous. It would never happen."

This simply says if his Coterie would take no action without his say so.

The faction description
"As members of Senator Patreus' Coterie, this faction can attribute much of its success to the senator's direct guidance."

So what he has said is true, but that doesn't mean he didn't approve the attack or have foreknowledge of it.

And this invasion of Quivira seems like a " I have just had one of my Cliens groups accused of High Treason so need to a distraction and to show how many combat pilots my money can buy" Causus belli

That CG was broken yesterday, did they fix that?

I'm only allied to the Empire and reasons to fight against them here are....

1. Station needed to sign up is an outpost and I can't land there.
2. It's over 28000 ls from the star!

My thoughts exactly. As soon as I read that statement, I knew Patreus had been behind the assassination.

But I will defer my wrath until the evidence is decided upon in a balanced trial.

I want to know what the Senator would gain from an assassination on an already dying - if not already dead - Emperor? How stupid would he have to be? Even if it succeeded, you couldn't stop it getting out that it was an assassination, and the rumblings would be immense across the Empire. Likewise, fail in the attempt and the Senator is finished.

Something doesn't add up here.

Who stands to gain from a successful assassination of the Emperor? Who wants to spark a civil war in the Empire? The Federation are strong candidates for that.

Who stands to gain from a failed assassination of the Emperor, or at least a fabricated "assassination attempt"? There would be no faster way to take down a rival than by smearing their name with a crime so bad, and by uniting Imperial citizens in outrage behind your claim. I think intelligent folks can draw their own conclusions.

Just the thoughts of a Lieutenant Commander from the other side of the fence.
