Horizons Tracking the Tick

My brain tells me that they are moving it towards 24:00 GMT so it lines up with the news changing in the stations. I know this cannot be true as are they staying up that late to flick it over? or is it all automated now....?

it has always been at approximate 24 hour intervals, but has a habit of slipping forwards when the servers are offline - eg on Thursdays for the Power play update. Its been round the clock twice completely so far.

Thanks jane, and i am a bit slow and only just got round to watching the Q&A with Dav Stott where he told off this very thread for trying to track the tick!

sorry Dav!

Well it isn't really necessary anymore, it's stabilised a lot!
Back when the thread was started the tick was an utter nightmare. States would update without influence changes and vice versa, in addition to neither happening on occasions, wars not taking place, and an entirely unpredictable tick time each day (which pretty much started to behave itself as soon as this thread appeared).

Dav actually gave us all a shout-out in a previous Q&A vid for keeping them on their toes; but probably just to shut us up ;)

Anyway, much more predictable and reliable these days - so thanks Dav (and team).

We have influence ticking - but 3 state changes are late - inc a war now in its 2nd day since the system changed hands and a 6 day long election

We've had a tick in the past hour I believe.
State changes, station ownership changes, and influence changes confirmed.

The tick seems to have gotten very early, since last Thursday's maintenance? It was around 21h before, it not only wound back to a 'usual' 18h or so, but has already ticked by 15h today, possible earlier.

I'm glad I found this thread. I've sense since Christmas the tick was 'slipping' later each day by around 5 or 10 minutes, moving from 4pm to 6pm, and most recently to around 9pm (all GMT). Then yesterday 25th it was already done by around 6pm and today 26th it seems to have been done by 3pm.

I did wonder whether it might be a scheduled batch job to run every 24 hours but that somehow the 24 count runs from the completion time of the prior day's run (rather than alway starting at the same time), and say the batch run takes 5/10 minutes that then accounts for the slippage.

Just would like a little consistency for such a key game element. I don't mind a 'window' of say 1-2 hours in which it regularly runs. Jane Turner's posts have been very useful in the recent thread pages.

Today's tick started by 14:22, definitely by 14:35, and appears to have finished by 15h when I next started checking things.
