Release Trade Computer Extension Mk.II

Hi Eventure. A request please!

I am in the Distant Worlds exploration group - that is part of the reason for me not to be able to test very much currently as obviously TCE as a trading tool is not appropriate for DW. However, I thought I should be able to use TCE to record my trip and add notes, etc at various points of interest. The problem is, although the Current Position always shows me where I am in game, all that gets recorded in the Flight Log is "Unknown Star System" at every hyperjump. I am not interested in entering the full, somewhat obtuse, star system names or the star co-ordinates since that would take far too much time and what is the point anyway except perhaps for Points of Interest I wish to record?

What I would like to see automatically recorded in the TCE Flight Log is simply the Star System name, instead of "Unknown Star System". You have the Star System name anyway since it always appears in the Current System header box. In that way I would have a record of the stars I have visited and I can add any notes or the full co-ordinates if I wish. As I said, I am generally not interested in any star system co-ordinates anyway.

Perhaps not everybody would want the Star System name automatically recorded so you could make it an option the main Option menu.

Rob

Have added your request, but to add a Point of Interest, it is required to add the system to the database.

Hi Eventure

Happily using 0.9.9.6 at present with only a few minor quirks: -

  • The Commodity Panel doesn't retain font/size changes after a restart of TCE but all the other Panels appear OK

  • The Planet ID field is inconsistent. On most occasions when entering something such as 'A1 ' as the ID TCE inputs a '-' automatically when displaying in the Main Panel e.g. 'AIABIKO - A2 : JETT RING' On other occasions it does not input a '-' and to get the same result a '-' needs to be entered as part of the ID

[edit] - upon further observation it appears to miss the '-' when using 'A1' or 'B1' as the first part of the Planet ID but not 'A2' or 'B2'

  • There appears to have been a duplication of log entries in my Db. In some cases there are multiple duplicate entries - Db file is here

  • I know I shouldn't have but with TCE1 I frequently added additional UR_Markets directly to the database (ensuring that the ID remained sequential) so that I could have a more complete idea of the stations within a system even if I hadn't visited them.

This seemed to work fine, when I did visit the station I simply selected it from the unregistered ones presented by TCE and as part of the registration process TCE deleted the UR entry from the relevant table. However with TCE2 I select the UR from the list presented and register the station but the UR entry doesn't appear to delete.

Is this a problem with the coding or isn't the relationships between the tables the same? As far as I can see the SQLite table is exactly the same as the old one in Access.

Commodity panel: The font size is saving here, so I can't recreate the issue. Did you clicked the font button again, after changing the size? It is required to store your changings.
Planet ID: Can you give some more details, where the issue is displayed? Perhaps a screenshot could help. Thanks.
Logbook: Oh, oh, your logbook looks really bad. Please use the last backup. When this happens?
Deleting unregistered markets: Found a bug, which prevents sometimes the removal of the selected unregistered market. Will be fixed with the next update.

Basically, we are still in the open beta phase. Since the release, we found couple of database issues, I fixed with updates, but I recommend to reimport your old TCE Mk.I database (if you have one), when the V1.0 is released.

Any screenshot of system info about the station?

Sorry for delay, not played this week as poorly son. Picture below

The description text is sometimes bugged from the FD side. Below the description text the economy is marked as HIGH TECH only. So I think it is the case here.

importing mkii db generates an error: error on sql export, table:log
ungültige konvertierung von typ dbnull in string.

Errors at the end of exporting MARKETS

When MARKETS have finished importing I get this error

ERROR_AT_THE_END_OF_EXPORTING.png

The TCE freezes for around 30 seconds whilst UPDATING LOCATION then I get this ERROR.

ERROR_AT_THE_END_OF_EXPORTING_2.png

THen UPDATING PERSONAL After pressing OK, I get a 3rd error

ERROR_AT_THE_END_OF_EXPORTING_3.png

Then complete database transfer. I started TCE and things appear fine, apart from all PANEL positions being reset to default positions.

MINOR ISSUE noticed in previous versions.

UPDATE INFO not consistent between STAR SYSTEM TAB and MARKET PLACES TAB.

Please make a new import of your old Mk.II database, because to logbook entries are not written.

The other issue, I will check it later.

I reimported DB from 0.9.9.6 and no errors seen, SUCCESS :D

Another MINOR issue:

VIST DATA isn't being updated. The example below is for a system that I've been too two or three times over the last week or so, and 10 times in total since playing, but it remains set at 1.

Please give me your actual database. Thanks

It's attached to my first posting. Or do you want the new 0.9.9.8 created version?

It's at the bottom of the post above.

Your 0.9.9.8 version, because it is the one, who makes the problem.

There you go, here.

public_Personal LOG is mostly empty,

pubic_Stars is missing all my other missing stars I have 39 in my 0.9.9.6 db.

thouse are the two that I see are different in TCE.db

So it is, copy your tce.db file from the v0.9.9.7 to the acutal version.

The issue will be fixed tomorrow.

  • Commodity Panel: Yes I did the second click for both font & size adjustment. Looking at the Panel table afterwards though it would appear that the changes were not saved. Closing and re-opening TCE put the panel font/size back to the default values - not surprising if they hadn't been saved. I closed TCE again and altered the values in the table directly and then restarted. This time the font/size were as I had set them in the table.

I can only assume that somehow the changes to the font and size are not written to the table. This seemed to be confirmed when I altered the font/size again within TCE and moved the position. The change in position was saved in the table but not the font/size changes.

  • Planet ID: I'll try to upload some examples later - I haven't had chance to play anymore ED just yet :(

  • Logbook: I'm not too bothered about retaining the old entries in my logbook. Is there any easy way to delete them all?

  • Unregistered Markets: I did find out later that I could delete them from the Navigation Panel but it will be much easier if it does it automatically :)

just a minor thing, eventure:
when selecting a destination, copy it to clipboard. auto destination works, but the rest is missing.
finetuning. everything else working as intended, no DB related probs on my side.
well done.

The FTP database does this allow connection of multiple people uploading to the same database file or does it have to be downloaded each time and risk of being corrupted

i.e.
me and my dad want to share the same data. I can upload it to my own site for ftp but does this mean that if me and him both add a station it can corrupt or fail as it may have the same ID in the database or does it update the DB accordingly when uploaded.
also does it act as a live feed when saved?

sorry if this dont make sence

Checked again and found the issue with the Commodity panel. Will be fixed with the next update.
Your will be able to remove all logbook entries and/or stored locations within the import process of your database. Again with the next update.

TCE Mk.II don't support FTP databases, only the Mk.I does it. Please check this post, how FTP for the Mk.I works.

The issue will be fixed tomorrow.

I fixed my DB, I noticed that the DB for 0.9.9.6 had two entries in public_Personal both the same. No idea why this happened, but I did have a blank public_Personal entry some versions ago, perhaps something occurred after that. Anyway, I deleted the second one and the DB import succeeded without an error.

The other issue is that the personal_Stars DB still had the missing entries for #EMPTY STARS I've logged, so I edited the DB appropriately in 0.9.9.8. What I'd like to know is why these entries are not being retained when the DB is imported?
