Yeah I tried that but didn't have much success It got rather confusing
I also tried read and tried that and that is why I made the simulator suggestion.
It would add many features / search possibilities that are not currently available

It's pretty quiet here, ready for another project ?
Maybe there is already an easy way to do this and I just didn't figure it out.
I know I can achieve something similar with the route planner but I think a 3rd tool would be nice,
Route simulator. Where we could select the info we have and the simulator would fill up the rest.
For example :
I could go very basic and just choose the minimum, a starting or ending system and press find.
In this case the simulator would give me the best trade stations and commodity for the station i chose and the missing origin or destination.
(this is the broader search scenario I can think of right now)
or
I could select Starting system and station (same as or other then my current position)
set some ly and/or ls range
and press find to let the simulator find the best destination sytem, station and commodity to carry
or ....
Basically, there are 3 information on each side that we need to complete a trade
System
Station
commodity
and optionally range in ly and ls
so I'm thinking of a simple window with selection boxes for these 6 entry whit a minimum of only 1 entry required.
or even 0 if it's not too much for the search engine.
On pressing find, the Simulator would find the best possible trade from the parameters we have set and so fill up all entry we did not specify.
http://i.imgur.com/7B8G5sq.jpg
also, right not the main panel when Routes is clicked, we see the same name for both menus
Routes
Routes
Routes
The choices could be changed to :
Routes (top main menu stay the same)
Find
Plan
Simulation (If you do add that functionor just Simulate or Simul for short if Simulation is too long to fit in the box)
I think I am missing something, because the stuff Brag mentions is already there. And not sure why the route planner (multi-stop) is confusing people. Maybe a video on how to set one up?

For both of those, go to routes/route finder. Set up your search criteria how you want. Then 'search trade route'. It automatically shows you what you are asking for. Don't forget you can sort the results by any of the headers, if you are looking for a particular station, etc.I will be sure to watch the vid if you make one !
Please show us how you can specify only a destination system and or station and have TCE find the most profitable Origin System, Station and Commodity for you.
and
How to find what is the best possible trade you can do between 2 stations when you are not currently at the Origin station.
Also, as it is right now, as far as I know, if you want to find the best sell location for a commodity or the best commodity to sell at a certain station
you have to leave the Route window, go into trade and search there, then close that and go back to the route menu to add it to the Route

If you are trying to set up a multi-stop trade route, using route planner, that works based on the commodity you clicked on to take to that station. Over on the right, the "balance" value is the difference from gal avg, so the first listed commodity is the "best buy" at that station. Hope that makes sense.
I think there's some confusion here. For the route planner (multi-stop), the comm listed at top is default the comm that is farthest from gal avg. That is *potentially* the best thing you can trade from that station, but depends on your next station in the list. "Best buy" in the A-B-A trade panel is the way to find the comm you're looking for at the lowest price. That is what I mean, you need to switch to the trade advisor or to the route finder to get the info and you can't add it to the trade route from there, so you have to switch back again.
And "best buy" at that station" is rarely the best trade you can make at your destination as you can see in the trade advisor.
It's not a problem if most people are against making change to TCE, I was just making a suggestion that I think could make it even better and easier to use
but if you want to leave well enough alone, well OK then, it's already a great program and the best Elite tool in existence so i'll stop making suggestions.
Hi Eventure
I am having problems importing previous db into v1.3.7/8 error message is "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. ------- Could not find part of the path"
so at the moment cannot use the program.. will send db.
thanks dee.

I think what you are after is a way to randomly pick stations and 'pretend' you're there, then use the ABA trade panel to search for the best place to trade from that location. Then from that station, keep doing that and make a list/route from that. Yes?
So you are not trading according to stations you want to visit, rather by profit. Right?
TCE is most efficient when using a bidirectional (A <-> B) trade route, multi-station trade routes are less effective, because you may end at a market with less profitable goods, but bringing a little variety into your commander's life.
As you said before, you having problems in setting up a route with the planner, showing there is room for improvements, but I don't create an 'auto-win' button, letting TCE do all the work and moving onto a route, where TCE commands me. That's not in the spirit, I created TCE. The Route Planner panel is the most complex panel of all, but TCE guides you in selecting a profitable route with the efficiency (EFF) display. It showing the biggest price difference from average for the goods, that are available at the market, adding the best profit for buy and sell goods. LOW means, that the minimum profit for the best buy and sell goods together is between 0 to 500 Cr., MED 501 to 1000 Cr. and HIGH for 1001+ Cr.
So selecting a HIGH efficiency market is always recommended, but it can be difficult to bring them all together. That's the part, where you come into play.
You have to juggle around with the markets to reduce the loss of profit, you have to take, when you are required to use non-high efficient market to fill the gaps.
That all requires time and brain and in the meantime, you could have made another million from a two-way route. So all is depending on your playstyle.
If you want make money fast, use two-way trade routes, if you want to create a nice trade route with a little sightseeing, use the Route Planner for it.
In my opinion, as long as i'm using only my own collected data, any way to manipulate / search through that data is / should be fair play.
Especially since the market prices on the best deals change so quickly now, any data older then a day or two become only a general indication rather the absolutely reliable data.
I some cases, i can see the prices change live as I am trading, so even the prices from a few round trips ago is not always accurate.
Because of that, even if you did want to create an 'auto-win' button, I don't see any way you could.
says, most of what I'm asking for is already possible, it's just distributed over many windows and it's harder to use the info to plan routes that way.
I was just suggesting a way to possibly make it more "user-friendly"
Your Language.db file is damaged, please replace it from your last backup, it should have 99 kb, your has 0 kb. Adding the issue to the verification with the next update.
Also you TCE_Prices.db database holds only about 1500 entries, quite low for nearly 1k markets. Check this database from your backup too.
Thanks for sorting that out.
dee.
Got a new one,
Might be because I changed the visited status of the sector to Unknown when I was there.
at my next stop, I went to NAVIGATION, FLIGHT LOG
selected that UNKNOWN, system and tried to SET BOOKMARK, intending to come back with a scanner equipped ship later.
It produced this error :

Update (1.3.9) released:
Changelog:
- Added new slide-in/out sounds to be more suitable.
- Added missing sounds for some buttons.
.
I have 2 very small requests;
For a UI optional change
...the message that says to click to add when you arrive in a new or update area.... could that please be in a red font color to catch my attention better, (I mean for *me* it would be slow flashing too) (the one that tells you to update the market on the lower part of that left main data window, not the button)
And the voice option would let me remove a mos if yours actually spoke the system you are arriving it along with the popup summary
Request volume control for the sounds
