Trade tools improvement - Buy all trade data in radius

Please add an option in galaxy map UI to purchase all trade data within a radius set by slider (up to 40 LY max perhaps?). Not much more to say. Small thing, big improvement to experience.

I'll take one for system data as well. Unless there is one that I don't know about and then I'll go use that.

Do you thing there is some sort of galaxy wide association of pilots who control a massive network of data or something?

Oh wait, ya... that's a great idea.

Does buying trade data get you the stuff for the markets (used in the new trade info system) or is it the "trending data" because the trending data, while cool, isn't as useful.

Nice idea - I'd expand on it and add a selection for the type of systems (tourist, agriculture, refinery, ...) - with that it might also be possible to expand the radius a bit (~100ly?) but keeping the otherwise exploding cost at bay.

This , last time I bought data it DIDN'T give the new trade info, only the old trending stuff, I had to physically have been there to get the new; this seems wrong, why would I ever buy the old useless data?( not that the new is that much better I often find that incorrect.)

If they could just streamline the current implementation, that'd be good.
e.g.
Make it possible to select a system for trade data without having to switch the gal map filter view.
Make it possible to select any system in the commodity view, even if it hasn't got a diamond symbol.
Indicate in the commodity market if a commodity is illegal in the selected system.
*Also in the commodity market, highlight any commodities you're carrying rather than having to try to and spot numbers in long lists of numbers.

As for the OP - I've not bought trade data in ages: what does it give you ? is it just the pretty coloured lines on the map?

Any sane trader relies on data collected. All I need is a trade computer that would store market data from stations I have visited. Literally EDDB.io in ED. Prices would change and your risk would be with delivering goods to the places with old data. This is so basic concept to make trade quick and interesting but FDEVs are adamant to make it tedious and boring.

I was under the impression it provides the full trading data, not just trending trades. It would be good to know for sure though.

But that's exactly how it works. That's how they explained it on the live stream, when it was presented.

We already have this in game. Have you not experimented with the new trade tools yet.

I see the need but to be honest I am not at all sure that doing it this way (on the map) is a particularly good approach. I haven't even bothered with it. Nor have I used the trade routes displayed after the initial try because when I did use them I found that they were unreliable and in fact even seemed to tell lies. Perhaps it was just the way I was reading it but it shouldn't be ambiguous or confusing and I found it to be both. The thing is, the trade data you actually need is more granular than system-wide so the map is a poor place to represent it.

Somebody above mentioned a trade computer - yes! Now we are talking. If it is going to be done then it should be done properly and with the appropriate methodology. Even if it requires enhancing and improving later it is better to start the way you intend to continue and on the map is, IMO, just totally the wrong approach.

That would be neat. I would add : commercial courrier missions should have this effect added in the payout. That would be cool.

The problem is people have been asking for a Trade computer since before the game came out.
Obviously Fdev do not want this in the game because ... well no idea why really, as they give the information to the api for external apps, I guess its just because they are too lazy to create it themselves.

Nice one, I haven't seen that one!

I agree that having it on the map is not the best approach, however your solution requires a lot more work, messing with both existing and new systems. Adding the option to the existing toolset seems a much simpler and viable solution on the other hand.

Yes, excellent suggestion!
