Trading rares from carriers

A stealth change in Trailblazers that's worth discussing - you can trade rare goods on carriers now.

It doesn't really have any effects for money making, but has some interesting results from how rare goods tie into other systems.
  • For CGs you might want to gather rares on a carrier and haul them in a cutter instead of gathering the rares and moving the carrier near/to the CG system. The orbit around/near the rare goods source station would be too valuable to give up.
  • For engineering you can now hoard the rares engineers require to sell to newbies at the engineer systems or help your squadron mates save on making multiple trips or being screwed by a bust/lockdown. This results in a (player driven) better experience / QoL for everyone. This is great.
  • Maybe this affects PP2 reinforcing too? Not sure if merits for rares were turned on and how effective they are.
  • Rare collectors rejoice.
  • Carrier market management UI still cluttered and doesn't have convenient filters to filter out the rare goods or favorite certain goods.

I can answer this. There was another stealth change in Trailblazers that any goods that goes through the FC cargo storage will no longer be useable for BGS or PP.

Yes, even mined goods.

I thought this was the case even before too, mostly for BGS and the mined flag - the only way to store things on a FC and to keep them legit for BGS was to be the owner and transfer them to the carrier yourself using the right side nav panel UI. Anything that goes through the carrier market is flagged to not count for sure.

Really? If you now trade (whichever) goods from a carrier to a station you no longer increase the influence of the station's owning faction? This sounds like a dramatic change.

I don't own a carrier and I don't really do BGS, but I would like to understand how everything works (just in case for the future, so I don't waste 2 weeks figuring out why my plans aren't working).

Previously it was if you transfer goods from FC to ship using the marketplace, it won't work for BGS or PP2. But direct transfer from FC storage to ship still works. Now both methods doesn't work anymore.

I first noticed this in Kumo's last cycle's report, so I checked with my power's leaders if it's true and they confirmed it. My guess is this change is part of the (yet to release) fix for rares, so a group of cmdrs can no longer snipe with a huge rares or pods dump.

Now the Kumo report only mention it no longer generate merits, but I have no reason to doubt that it doesn't work for influence as well, since that's how it was if you use the FC marketplace.
