Transfer Poll Results

Closer to 4 times or more depending on when you take the Steam stats from.

Check number of unique players in two weeks, rather than peak daily concurrent players. This currently stands at around 92,000, so 39,000 votes is a sizable fraction (42%) of the two week audience (potentially).

That is one thing to keep in mind: FD were already going to do real-time even if instant won the "vote", unless an absolute curb-stomp scared them away from it. Because at that point, real-time had already won the office argument and they just needed to get marketing on board.

A landslide in favor of real-time is just a happy confirmation.

That said though, considering how much support the worst-case scenario for real-time got, when it's more developed and capable it should be even more popular. :D

Democracy is your favourite bestest friend in the whole wide world ever when the vote goes your way and a total and utter disgustingly vile beach when it doesn't.

That's why one should refrain from using the result of a democratic process as a means to rub salt in another's face. Not only is it in very poor taste imo but much like RNG democracy is fickle and comes with no guarantees to 'stay on your side'.

Sometimes (as in the case of recent political events) we come to realise this fact the hard way.
I think the vote we had here is different; in as much as it was a basic choice. Yes or No; but without the spin, or lies, that we get in most elections. People put their arguments across, for and against, all good arguments. The only lie I saw was the; instant option. As nothing in this game is really 'Instant', even if we had to wait for just one second, for something to happen.

Oh god, somebody else has found and picked up the immersion drum now, somebody save me.
Since delays is for "immersion" people will have to pilot their escape pod back to a station? How about loading their cargo onto a ship, spray painting it when changing colors, waiting for a electrician to connect their space weapon?

That they changed their original vision due to immense forum whining from people who have yet to try the feature doesn't make things any better.
Those players actually didn't whine so much as provided good examples which proved instant ship transfer caused too many issues with balance and feel of the game. They - *shock*/*awe* - actually CONVINCED developers to reconsider.

Yes, you can convince Sandro of something. It happens that he changes his mind. Funny how good arguments work, no?

Given your 'recent' avatar change, I'm all for making pilots go to the toilet at regular intervals, preferably at the most inconveniant times possible. Should make you happy :)

1) order your ship over, check the time it takes, and in the meanwhile either
a) buy a small ship and outfit it for combat for the meanwhile ... there's not really a lot you risk in an eagle, and you might even enjoy it
b) do another short trading run in the meanwhile (the CZ will be there when you are back, and you were in the mood for trading just a few seconds ago, or why were you flying a T-9?)
c) refit your T-9 for combat

I think I'll go for: 1d) Unload the dishwasher.

I still believe instant would have been a superior solution. But, we'll see how it goes when the feature is actually live. *shrug*

Just when I thought all that FD listened to was vocal forum whining, we suddenly get a real poll asking a clear question about an upcoming game feature? Even better, we get 40,000 responses and the results of the poll showed a clear result that corresponds to the changes the devs have been considering for ship transfers? It seems that getting actual numbers tell you much more about your player base than trying to figure out who is currently whining the loudest. I suspect much of what we got with Engineers would have turned out much better if we had more of these polls and less attention was given to random forum whining.

Can we have more official polls for major game features please?

That in itself is a slippery slope. It should really only be reserved for the contentious features like this.

But as a means of resolving dispute, I was very happy with how this poll was handled and how it tried to be as inclusive as possible. For those thinking of bias, remember this wasn't just mentioned here, it was in emails (both the newsletter and a special email, as I recall) it was on Reddit, Steam, various Facebook Groups, Twitter, etc... it was about as inclusive as it could get.

Way to go Fdev, introduce even more nonsensical timesinks because "immersion" -.-

That's seeing the glass as half-empty (and imagining features that aren't in the game). Think of it as saving half the time you would have spent retrieving the ship instead. :)

Hello Commander Ziggy Stardust!

There is but one hat. Stetson Boss of the Plains 6X (distressed styling).

The Sammarco Kid? :)
So as the posts built up from the forum possee, did you ever look across at Brookes Cassidy and say, "Who are those guys.......?"

I guessed not.

So 5 minutes to a 100 to cross the bubble. It is what it is! Thanks for listening! Wish I had more time.
