Transfer Poll Results

FD, what on earth were you thinking?

If design by committee is bad, design by forum vote is worse.

Take feedback on a feature after you release it, not before anyone here has actually had a chance to try it. Ridiculous is the only word I have for this.
OMG...how many times to people ignore things that have been said over and over.

FDev made their choice BEFORE the vote. It would have required not only a strong turnout but a vast majority against delay for them to have changed their minds. This was NOT a DEMOCRATIC election. This was a poll of community sentiment to see if was generally aligned with what the had ALREADY decided.

Good grief folks, stop being dense.

Hello Commander Toumal!

No, sorry.

It's just how we rationalise the delivery times.

However, it would be cool to have visual representations of these in the future (no ETA, no guarantee).

Any chance the concept would be along these lines?

Keep in mind I'm simply referring to the skeletal nature of the transport which ships would hitch a ride to, rather than anything exact - I just think this would avoid the question of "well if you have a transport that's big enough to carry ships, why doesn't IT just mass transport commodities" rather nicely, and be visually distinctive, both laden with ships and unladen.

Can we vote now wether the feature will be rushed and be in 2.2, or FD takes their time and wait until 2.3?

How about a vote which hat Sandro will wear next livestream?
Now now, certain things like Sandro's hat must always be left up to RNG lest one of his hats becomes OP and then developes delusions of grandeur and then tries to take over the world!

Since we have to wait, are they going to implement walking around the station, or going to the bar getting space drunk? How about a space casino while we wait for our ship to get there? Space toilets?

Now what am I supposed to do if I'm flying a Type-9 and I see a combat zone!?!

1) order your ship over, check the time it takes, and in the meanwhile either
a) buy a small ship and outfit it for combat for the meanwhile ... there's not really a lot you risk in an eagle, and you might even enjoy it
b) do another short trading run in the meanwhile (the CZ will be there when you are back, and you were in the mood for trading just a few seconds ago, or why were you flying a T-9?)
c) refit your T-9 for combat

2) don't order the ship over and

a) buy a small ship and outfit it for combat ... there's not really a lot you risk in an eagle, and you might even enjoy it
b) continue trading, you were in the mood for trading just a few seconds ago, or why were you flying a T-9?
c) refit your T-9 for combat

option c) might only be for the reeeaaally brave (or "brave") ones

the above only applies if it surprises you that there is a combat zone, otherwise you could also order the ship the day before or just fly it over there.

That they changed their original vision due to immense forum whining from people who have yet to try the feature doesn't make things any better.

And a fine hat it is Sandro :) Too bad though ... still ... how about a vote which beard Mr. Brooks will wear?

And before you ask, plenty more bad ideas where those came from.

Only it's not.

Hmm, almost 40.000 votes. And it seems that statistical distribution of both previous forum only poll and the forum exit poll really copy the result to high degree of precision.

It means that the forum itself is really more or less a mirror of the whole player community. This fact is a bit surprise for me, I always supposed that there is certain "bias" of dedicated forum users against the overall average of playerbase.

Thats not quite true. I have been playing elite since launch but never went on the forums until last friday. I would look at it as 40k dedicated players rather than the total community.

Just when I thought all that FD listened to was vocal forum whining, we suddenly get a real poll asking a clear question about an upcoming game feature? Even better, we get 40,000 responses and the results of the poll showed a clear result that corresponds to the changes the devs have been considering for ship transfers? It seems that getting actual numbers tell you much more about your player base than trying to figure out who is currently whining the loudest. I suspect much of what we got with Engineers would have turned out much better if we had more of these polls and less attention was given to random forum whining.

Can we have more official polls for major game features please?

Shouldn't have to buy another ship. That is the bad option.

It would also be interesting to find out how Instant/Delayed transfer Devides between PvP/PvE community,Or would that just open up a whole new can of worms

Can we have 100 min wait on rebying lost ships and can we lose the hyperdrive and go back to relativistic speeds only. All this hyperdrive / instant ship rebuy nonsense is immersion breaking.

Thankew so much...
