Transfer Poll Results

It's obvious that the result is not logical, it's popular. You need look no further than the slew of threads and arguments for the feature to see how devoid of logic and internal consistency it is. I would think that the current state of world politics would be evidence enough that the popular is rarely the logical.

Subjectivity... in a game. Different tastes for different... gamers. Please don't compare this to the world political debates and their supports based on "should we banish all foreigners" or "is global warming a problem worth caring". The godwin's law is just unbearable.

I would suppose using multiple accounts to vote may be considered invalid?

Probably... I have 4 accounts, and I did log into all 4 and voted. That said, I have also put 4x ammount of money into the game, so, I would argue it would be fair.... but if only one of my votes counted then, I am OK with that too. :)

Sometimes I do play on several accounts at the same time; that said... depending on what I do, it can become very tricky, and I have lost ships because of it. :D Most of the time, I play on one account at a time... One of them is a storage space for Engineer Commodities though, so I usually have an offload thing going on after each playsession. :)

Woo-hoo! Today is a big BIG day for me. I've never voted on the winning side of any cause in my entire life....until now! Dreams DO come true:D

Thanks Sandro and the powers that be!

Pity, it could have been so much more.

Yes it may well be. But with instant it wouldn't be. And no, there was no logic.to magic instant teleportation.

Just want to add to the "Thank you for taking player feedback into account". 40k is quite a response considering there are only 7000 odd members on this forum.

I guess that means the distribution method to a certain extent over reddit, email etc worked pretty well.. :D Room for improvement but for a first time that looks good to me. Look forward to participating in future if any polls are offered.

But: What is an invalid account?
One of my Frontier accounts was only used to reserve a CMDR name but has never actually purchased or linked to a copy of ED. I'm guessing similar accounts, or accounts set up to purchase Planet Coaster or to get support on other games, are the invalid accounts they're talking about.

Democracy is your favourite bestest friend in the whole wide world ever when the vote goes your way and a total and utter disgustingly vile beach when it doesn't.
Yep, pretty much what I said.

That's why one should refrain from using the result of a democratic process as a means to rub salt in another's face. Not only is it in very poor taste imo but much like RNG democracy is fickle and comes with no guarantees to 'stay on your side'.
I do hope that was a general observation and not a dig, because at no point have I rubbed salt in anyone's face. I'm not going to deny that I was a pro-delayer, nor that I had some fun at the expense of the extreme logical twists I saw from other forumites when FD said they might be backtracking on instant. But when Sandro announced this poll I did find myself wavering a little.

Even after this poll was started it was by no means clear which way the vote was going to go. The exit poll was spot on, but the e-mail that went out to non-forum and non-Reddit users was the wild card. It would not have surprised me at all had the vote gone the other way, because while the forums have a reputation for harbouring the "hardcore" of ED players there was a strong chance that all those non-forum players might be "casuals" for whom instant transfer could be very compelling.

My point is that the comment about "flowing salt" would have been equally appropriate, and I would still have posted it, had the vote gone the other way and pro-delay posters been the ones grousing. It wasn't about who "won" and who "lost", more about how humans inevitably react towards the validity of polls depending on whether they agree with the outcome or not. Many of us had predicted a flurry of such posts, even new threads, in the wake of the result regardless of which way it went. I was a little surprised at how quickly the salty posts began to appear though.

It's obvious that the result is not logica

TBH, the result is quite logical for me : we play a space sim, "sim" means it is not real but tries to make it "believable". "Believable" here means (as far as I'm concerned) "as close to my suspension of disbelief as possible without disturbing my comfort as a player".

Of course, I'm not the only player ... And as there are many players, the idea is to get "as close to the suspension of disbelief of the majority as possible without disturbing their comfort as players". Hence the poll.

Sorry for my bad English, but I think you can get the idea. Rest assured that if this vote were going to lead us into a DOOM scenario, I'd be amongst the first ones complaining about it.

But honestly, right now, I don't see HOW this could happen. Ship transfer was harder / slower than that so far, and the game was doing fine. How making it faster but not fast enough for *the minority* could cause it to die ?

Frankly, I'm confident this is for the best on a large scale and on the long run.

Sigh...I'm not comparing video games to political games, I'm illustrating the decision making power of people as a group by comparing the types of decisions made there to the type of decision made here.
