But: What is an invalid account?
One of my Frontier accounts was only used to reserve a CMDR name but has never actually purchased or linked to a copy of
ED. I'm guessing similar accounts, or accounts set up to purchase
Planet Coaster or to get support on other games, are the invalid accounts they're talking about.
Democracy is your favourite bestest friend in the whole wide world ever when the vote goes your way and a total and utter disgustingly vile beach when it doesn't.
Yep, pretty much what I said.
That's why one should refrain from using the result of a democratic process as a means to rub salt in another's face. Not only is it in very poor taste imo but much like RNG democracy is fickle and comes with no guarantees to 'stay on your side'.
I do hope that was a general observation and not a dig, because at no point have I rubbed salt in anyone's face. I'm not going to deny that I was a pro-delayer, nor that I had some fun at the expense of the extreme logical twists I saw from other forumites when FD said they might be backtracking on instant. But when Sandro announced this poll I did
find myself wavering a little.
Even after this poll was started it was by no means clear which way the vote was going to go. The exit poll was spot on, but the e-mail that went out to non-forum and non-Reddit users was the wild card. It would not have surprised me at all had the vote gone the other way, because while the forums have a reputation for harbouring the "hardcore" of
ED players there was a strong chance that all those non-forum players might be "casuals" for whom instant transfer could be very compelling.
My point is that the comment about "flowing salt" would have been equally appropriate, and I would still have posted it, had the vote gone the other way and pro-delay posters been the ones grousing. It wasn't about who "won" and who "lost", more about how humans inevitably react towards the validity of polls depending on whether they agree with the outcome or not. Many of us had predicted a flurry of such posts, even new threads, in the wake of the result regardless of which way it went. I was a little surprised at how quickly the salty posts began to appear though.
