Transfer Poll Results

Hey, at least you can move you ships without needing to do it yourself. Opening your time up to do things other than manual ship txfr.

Absolutely, i have ships all over the place i haven't moved since 1.0 so cant wait for this feature, will have to simply manage my time around the delay - i think i can live with that ! :)

Best post ever !

LOL that is a good post. I do find that there are those who can put hours into a game like WOW etc and those that can't I am unfortunately one who can't so taking my entire evening to make one move is doable it doesn't allow me to participate in the community. Would be nice if there was more multi play and NO I don't mean just combat.

Please fix bugs. Yes i am one of those who think fixing the current state of the game is more important than any new content.

you must have spent too much time out there in the black, to have such wild desires. sorry to break it to you, but that's not how the show goes.

you will repent, accept any new features wholeheartedly as they are gracefully peered to you and you will stop letting dirty words spill from your mouth. "fix" ... never ever say that again! have you lost all imagination? don't you want to be en-ter-tai-ned? if you want a bug-free game go play hardcore tic-tac-toe! this! is! eliteeeeeeee!!!!!!

I voted instant, but I am ok with the delayed delivery.

But Sandro, I hope you reconsider the time it takes... 100 minutes is a bit long for across the bubble imo.

An please take your time and implement it right with the option to initiate ship delivery from A to B while I am at C.
With the delay, we need the option to plan ahead, which is not possible if we have to fly to the destination to call the ship and again to get on board.

While this sounds good, I would much rather *valuable* development time be spent on other more important things.

At this point I honestly can't see ship transfer adds very much to the game, this feature was never really that much of an issue for anyone, it was very rarely raised on the forum as a concern.

It's possible that ship transfer may be an enabler for multi-crew and therefore important as a dependency for future features, but I suspect that is now not the case given the transfer is no longer instant, and as such the feature stands alone, it is what it is for its own sake.

So being honest about this, assuming ship transfer is a standalone feature and there's not some dependency plan I'm not seeing, I feel the not insignificant amount of time and energy spent on this feature really wasn't worth it.

Sure it's been entertaining from a forum drama perspective but from the point of view of tying up Frontier employee time on stuff that isn't particularly important to the game, or the main plan, well gotta say I don't think this has been that great.

About 3 times more people voted than Steam charts indicate play the game.

Steamcharts only report the players playing at any one time, not the total individuals per day.

Steamspy estimates over 90k individuals in the past two weeks... and Steam does not include the entire player base.

Not sure that is a good indicator. I have 4 accounts in this game, and all of them I bought directly from Frontier. Buying directly from the developer is, to me, the prefered way. I guess a lot of people who really care about FD, their wealth and ability to support this game, did that.

First of all, congratulations on the application of democratic procedures (voting). I'm in favor of democracy too, though not in favor of this particular outcome for one simple reason. I just don't get it. I've worked my butt off since 2.1 and fully modded all of my ships. Even my combat vette has over 21LYs of jump range, so that its a viable ship to travel even a bit outside of the bubble. I can reach the outskirts of human inhabited space in somewhere between 10 to 20 mins (20 with my slowest ship).
So, this feature is not even remotely useful in the bubble, unless you just use it for one and only time to gather all your ships to one station more easily. But what about outside then? Excluding Colonia, now I will have the option to move my vette to lets say Maia, either by flying it in 15 mins, or by flying there in my asp, order the vette, pay, log out and wait for 100 mins? I fail to see the dilemma here, i'm sorry. It was said that this was intended to be a quality of life improvement.
Anyway, I guess this has been overly discussed the previous days. I just wanted to state my opinion after the voting has taken place.
I am happy this was decided in a democratic fashion and, as every democratic nation has the leaders it deserves, so do we, and we have to occasionally cope with things we might not agree.

If you can move around the bubble that quickly anyway, you really don't need that feature anyway. I probably won't use it much, but that is how it is meant to be used. It's a QoL update, not a whole new way of playing the game.

"Yes, just yes."

My post isn't really convincing, right ?

It's obvious that the result is not logical, it's popular. You need look no further than the slew of threads and arguments for the feature to see how devoid of logic and internal consistency it is. I would think that the current state of world politics would be evidence enough that the popular is rarely the logical.

Pity, it could have been so much more.

Hello Commander Phil^!

We'll be finessing the final times, which might end up being a little shorter (we wanted to be as extreme as possible in the poll to make the potential consequence as clear as possible), but it will likely be in the same ball park, as these times will represent bulk freighter transport, which is not fast.

In an earlier post you mentioned the distance across the bubble as being somewhere near 300 ly and the time being around 110 minutes. How do we define the bubble?

I checked out the EDDB and found that there are plenty of stations with shipyards further than 300 ly just using Sol as a starting point. Now I don't know if Sothis is considered part of the bubble but if you start with Sothis as a reference there are many stations that are over 700 ly from there.

Over 700 ly in 110 minutes doesn't seem too bad; 110 minutes for 300 ly sounds much worse.

I voted for instant transfers, but honestly I’m not torn up that delayed transfers won. I’m just super happy that we are GETTING ship transfers at all!!!!

Having a delay does mean that transfers will be super cheap though, right? :D
