Transfer Poll Results

I hope you and all of "realism" fanatics understand what they've just done. Clap, clap, clap. You've just killed useful feature. Congratulations! What's next? Delays in outfitting? Unconvenient... but it's so REALISTIC!!!
We'll see what you'll say about transfer delays once the 2.2 Beta hits...

Oh, and BTW - there was NO realism in this game. There is NO realism in this game. There will be NO realism in this game.

VROOOOMMmmm

I respect the decision of the poll. However this is where I will probably be calling it on Elite Dangerous for a while; there are already numerous artificial timesinks (entering the docking bay after landing but not being able to interact with menus, not being able to interact with menus when in hyperspace etc). It's all a bit staccato for me I'm afraid. I appreciate what you are trying to achieve here, but I'm time limited - there are other games that require attention as well as work to pay for them. I'm sorry, but I'm just not prepared to have a quality of life feature deliberately neutered for effect - the mere existence of the feature will necessarily break the immersion. I think EVE's notion of capsuleer conscious transmission is more elegant a workaround for what is, ultimately, just a quality of life feature.

Have never done that myself. And never will. Do always read books or watch netflix while your ship is docked at a port?

Yep. While I'm trying to get the mission board to refresh. Nothing like docking at a station that I'm fully aligned with only to find 2 or 3 missions, or better yet ZERO.

Sigh...I'm not comparing video games to political games, I'm illustrating the decision making power of people as a group by comparing the types of decisions made there to the type of decision made here.

And all that based on your views that one position should be wrong and the other should be right. Therefore seeing far beyond what this poll was, and a bit too far IMO. When people from both sides will stop throwing rocks at each other and calling common sense, idiocy or lack of brain for the a or b choice, realize your stance has no more value than "I like blue" vs "I like green", then we'll see more respect and less failed attemps at putting people in boxes.

Just trying to take advantage of the wasted time. I suppose you just stare at your screen like a deer in the headlights.

But you can do something else with that time, no? If those are 5 mins you won't even care - you will just get ready and do some preparation. If those will be lets say 1 hour you can do few missions aside, source some coffee or medicine for faction.

If you really have to do something one and nothing else - ED isn't really suited for that, right?

Funny how oftern I see this whole Netflix, or reading a book tossed out there as something to do while playing Elite. What is it you are doing in Elite that allows you to focus on a book or a movie?

Anything that doesn't involve being in combat or being interdicted.

Want some cheese with that whine?

tbh this decision is for the best, Elite should not head down the path of "instant gratification" and don't give me all that "I work, I'm too busy" bull. I'm sure the majority of us are very busy and cannot simply game for hours upon hours, I know for myself my typical ED sessions are 40mins to 1hr 30mins on average (a little more on some weekends) but even so, the delay was for the benefit of the game.

it's a done deal, accept it and continue to have fun in-game.

I am not sure I have ever found anything in Elite that allows me time to focus on something else. What exactly is it that one does that affords this much in game downtime?

I think you really underestimate how much time spent not doing anything engaging there is to fill. It's rather easy, unless you are fully engaged at all times. Which means that this is good for you, not so good for the people that aren't. That doesn't mean the game isn't for them, it means that what is meaningful and engaging to you might be mindless to others. If you think about it, you will understand, I know you are capable of understanding things that other people do and you don't.

There is plenty of time in the game where it doesn't need 100% attention. Enough that you can easily have a show or something going on in another monitor.

I'm proud that the community managed to turn this shipwreck around :) and it has to be said, Frontier is setting an example of interacting with the playerbase.
