Type 7 needs a Medium hardpoint!

The T-7 is one of the most agile ships from medium and up in the game. Not very fast (but boosts about 400 though) - but agile. Maneuverability is top notch. One of the very best yaw speeds in the game. It may look like a brick but it doesn’t fly like one.

And just so you know I use a Beluga for deep core mining, and it’s great. Quite fast (285/400) and good maneuverability - and that huge windscreen is great when looking for fissure asteroids. I can’t fly between the asteroid parts - but I don’t have to. I shoot the bits with the blaster just fine from the edge. And I can throw that huge ship around the asteroids very easily and fast and place the charges. On top of that it can carry a lot of cargo and still have a good jump range. I have earned about 1.5 billion with it, and it’s been a lot of fun [yesnod].
According to https://coriolis.io/ it's the 7th least agile ship in the game. But if you engineer the hell out of anything that number changes a bit. Still, I'd rather have a medium ship that can move around a bit more, instead.
Semi-related note: I've noticed Painite has gone way up in price. How's mining that with the Beluga, or a conda? The lack of mobility but insane cargo space for a conda seems like old school mining in a painite hotspot might be kinda badass.

That doesn’t say much with all the small ships in the game. It’s a very maneuverable ship - especially for its size. I am surprised how anyone who has flown it would say it’s not.

Anyway - you said “horrible agility” about the T-7 and that just isn’t true. That’s my point. Let’s leave it at that.

The Beluga would be great for Painite mining - if you don’t need heaps of cargo space. It’s more agile than the Anaconda. But I could certainly mine in the Anaconda too. I do prefer, though, to mine in a ship where the cockpit is close to the front of the ship so you can easily see what you are doing.

I will say 7>>>>>Anaconda in terms of performance. I missed my 7, until I turned in the first mining haul.

Agreed with that last part. It's the one thing I HATED when I used to mine with my conda, however turning in 200+ tons of painite lessened the pain. It's why I started trying to grind for a Cutter.

T7 is no Hauler nor a good mining ship

its the most cost effective passenger ship ingame.
regarding the OP - the next better ship after AspE without rank lock, is probably the Krait Phantom.

Type 7 was an amazing mining ship when I used it. Had some issues with heat, but 3 small mining lasers and it kept the limpets busy and didn't deplete my charge enhanced distributor. Had to mess with pips a lot, but it was a great mining ship.

But small mining lasers are terrible for energy drain to mining speed (I think I still have the numbers in my sig), on the mining subreddit we used to laugh at people using the T7.

All a bit moot now anyway seeing as an asp haul or two of void opals will net you enough for a krait/python/orca(which is a lot faster and more nimble than you'd think)

You can laugh all you want. Doesn't change the fact that it can be used as a mining ship. Have you considered that there are people not focused on having the best possible mining ship there is? Have you also considered there are people with billions of credits still flying sub-par ships when there are better ships for the job? Have you considered they just like those ships and spending time in them? Just like there are also people that do exploring in combat ships for example.
