I have a few week's of exploring in the middle of the galaxy ahead of me and then I'll spend a bit of time in Colonia where I'm hoping to go from Tycoon to Elite trader, or at least make progress in that direction and do business with the engineers there.
Now, I engage in a bit of role play to guide my playing decisions.
There are two things CMDR Quain Marln does not do:
1. any more mining unless unavoidable to achieve some other goal.
2. run from pirate interdictions (PvE), EVER! Submitting to interdictions and reducing the pirate ship to salvageable engineering materials is Quain's MO. Call it compensation for lost time and profit per hour.
Number 2 is so non-negotiable that Quain would even do 1. mining to avoid it.
Quain has been flying an Anaconda smothered in G5 engineered multi-cannons for most of his trading so far and the Anaconda has done the job perfectly. But 360T of available cargo capacity (4 collector limpets onboard) only gets you so much profit per hour. I'm trying to match Robigo Mines passenger missions 80 million per hour with trading - ambitious I know.
Up to now Quain has assumed an Imperial Cutter is the end game trading ship and earned the rank of Imperial Duke and almost has enough credits to buy it plus insurance at the right spec.
But you cannot buy a Cutter in Colonia and it would cost to close to all of his credits to do it. Need another 300 million to do it comfortably and have credits to buy cargo to trade.
The T9 heavy delivers on cargo capacity, but everyone says you focus on escaping from pirates in this ship which violates rule 2. above.
Is there a strategy for using a T9 that can defeat at least one pirate interdiction?
What about loading it up with G5 engineered seeker missiles like this: https://coriolis.io/outfit/type_9_h...AbAQwDsBjFEAYQHtSUAHAFxAEZZIQoIg==&bn=Concept
If it made a difference I would give up 32T of cargo space for a SLF hangar to make it work.
I realise ammo is a limitation for seeker missiles, but it only needs to be able to defeat one pirate Anaconda/Python before reloading at the destination station, and the seeker missiles are delivering 95DPS.
I'm not convinced this can work and might have to wait until back in the bubble with a Cutter purchase, but it would be pretty funny to do this in a T9.
Any advice on from experienced T9 commanders?
