Type-9 or Type-10 for mining?

What advantages if any are there to using either one of them over the other for mining? I have a T-10 and think it probably offers more hardpoint flexibility but that is not so much a consideration for me as module slots and cargo capacity. I am currently mining using a Corvette but if one of the T-types can haul more cargo with the same number of mining modules I might switch. Thanks for your feedback. o7

A Cutter sellataped to another Cutter. With twelvety lazors to be able to shoot roids into the next galaxy.

I'm mining in a T10, because it has appropriately industrious looks, can defend itself while mining (I use turrets for the large slots, 3 mining lasers and the usual core mining tools on the rest), can cold boredom levels of cargo, and most importantly, has the best cockpit view of all the large vessels - useful for spotting cores and taking out surface deposits.

What type of mining are you doing?

If you’re doing the double Painite meta and have the appropriate rank then the Cutter is excellent. Tonnage to spare, limpets galore and plenty of speed to whizz from rock to rock. I switched to a Cutter from my T10, which had been set up for VO mining, so that I could enjoy the extra speed. For VO mining I’d stick with the T10 but as Obi says, it’s boredom levels of cargo whichever one you go for. Which is why I tend to mine in smaller ships for shorter periods but I’m guessing you don’t want a Coriolis link to a Keelback miner ;)

I currently have a Viper Mk4 fitted for Core mining, and can easily repurpose a Cobra Mk3 for strip mining.

All of a sudden the whizzing through asteroid belts becomes fun rather than an exercise in tedium, as you're travelling at 500-600m/s as opposed to half that. Strip mining is probably less fun though compared to bigger ships due to fewer limpets and less firepower meaning it takes longer to strip a rock.

Do you have a mining Cutter build posted on any of the shipyard sites?
No.

But also yes. Since I just logged on and can simply click on ED Market Connector:

I have no idea how EDSY really works so forgive me if there's a better way to link that.

Its pretty much subjective.

Do you want to log out in the middle of a mining session then shoot and kill the guaranteed scripted npc that arrives when you wake up? Even with one mining laser your limpets are always playing catchup so you can go in multipurpose fit just swapping in mining modules + hardpoints.

For strip mining, I’d throw some halfway decent shields on the T9 and use it.

If it were the days before the cargo capacity buff, I’d maybe consider the T10.

Just hard to pass up those two 8 cargo slots on the T9.

Lol nah bro.

3x 5A collectors and proper positioning has them almost as fast as 5 lasers, certainly able to keep up with 4.

I know this, because that's how I roll, and I can fill almost 500 tons an hour.

I have been using a Corvette for dee-core VO mining but am looking for a change. It is just that the Cutter is such a huge pile of destructible credits that I am hesitant to use it for mining and it will take several hours to a day to outfit one and engineer the modules. Still, food for thought ... o7

Literally just engineer the weapon recharge and FSD. Nothing else matters and the rebuy is like, less than 10% of a single load of painite.

On the other hand, the T10 handles a bit better compared to the T9 (not that it's hard to beat). I'd expect while using a T9 for mining it'd be easier just moving the asteroid belt around the ship as opposed to the other way around.

Geez, VO are still selling at 1.6 million? Is there such a thing as double VO hotspots?
EDIT: Nevermind, apparently doubles only affect surface mining :(

Really? Must be doing something wrong then because i run 6 limpets and they're playing catchup on just the output of one medium laser. Painite only. (That is, i stop lasering well before the limpets are done. You would only need more if your limpets are waiting under your ship).
