U15 update notes are online!

No fixes mentioned for black screens of death on vehicle exit, bugged CZs...

Still, the drone infested power-ons look promising.
I'm wondering if the amount of attention CZs got, with new scenarios and a fix for the long-standing problem with re-powering bases, means a whole number of CZ state management issues will have got fixed along the way.

Of course it's equally possible that adding one new CZ scenario will add 27 obscurely related bugs...

point is, you don't roll out the client as long as you don't know if you might need to roll back the server. Imagine rolling out the client early, tripping on a problem and having to roll back the clients, so people need to effectively download twice in one day. There would be loud moaning and gnashing of teeth about "unplayable", "ded game" and "incompetent devs".
Mmm yes except competent devs understand decoupling and clients that add functionality optimistically, so you aren't exposed to this issue at all, and in fact you can even break the cycle and push out the client slowly over the course of days which takes away multiple release day issues for you.

SERVER

  • Fixed an 'Invitee is already in crew' message appearing in Horizons mode when a player who owns Odyssey sends a multi-crew invite to a player without Odyssey.

Thank you FDev! 🙂

Wouldn’t it be more helpful if we didn’t have doom mongers try to turn every threat into a cancelling thread within 20 posts?

Anyway, you cut out my legitimate question about the CQC maps!
Sure, but there were no doom mongers here. Only a joke/sarcastic comment.

I left out the CQC part because it wasn't relevant to my point, but I left a "[...]" to not come across as deceiving.

Boooooo :(

slughtly brighter codex screen for VR users, meh.
In case you don't know: The background is blindingly bright when you open the codex, to a level of headache inducing if you read the codex for extended periods of time. It is a big thing. Big. Big, big big. As is the very annoying head position in the shipyard. I secretly hope this bugfix also fixes the suit cosmetics screen, where your suit is about 40 meters behind you.

The carrier bloat fix is the one I'm looking forward to. Most of the rest won't really impact me much. Low-hanging fruit as usual, but at least they're picking something :)
A number of bugs that irritate me the most are likely considered "low-hanging fruit", but I would still be thrilled if they were fixed. I'll be watching people's reactions and reviews of this update closely. If enough "death by 1000 cuts" bugs and performance issues are fixed, I could be enticed to reinstall Elite, even 4.0.

I was under the impression you were an active player. I'm not very good at impressions tho...

When I returned a few months ago, I had already given up all hope on anything being fixed. I just enjoy ED for what it is now. There are no bugs that will cost me more than an hour of my time. That's a drop in the bucket compared to my overall time playing ED. I now see any fixes that affect me as almost miraculous.

10 minutes to go, Twitter is silent still. Time for switching to 'are we there yet' | F5 mode? It's a tradition, after all ;)

O7,

Emphasis on the past tense, you are correct, I was an active player, a very active player. You'll see my name written in the stars if you look closely enough.

Me too, but I love being proven wrong in this regard. I never expected the system map to be fixed after all this time. I thought they would have done that in 4.0 with all the other UI changes, and when they didn't.. But supposedly here it comes in U15, and I must confess, I didn't see it coming!

I do get what you are saying, because the other space game that shall not be named has its own share of bugs, and I still enjoy it "for what it is now". Elite, not so much, but that may be because I had the pleasure of enjoying it "before the dark times, before the Empire Odyssey."

Either way (your take on bugs vs. mine), this UI improvement re: carriers on the system map should not be controversial at all. Everyone should be happy about it IMO.
