UA Mystery thread 4 - The Canonn

It's got nothing to do with being at the centre of the universe. If that is what you think you clearly have misunderstood my posts completely.

Actually I didn't even read your post, lol. I was sarcastically responding to the ubiquitous brain virus that Braben spread when he talked about how "we can't all be the one who rescues the princess". Ergo, I actually kind of agree with you. The idea that we are not special in this game has been used as an excuse to keep the plot line limited to galnet news. Sure it's realistic, but damn, it is also extremely shallow and esoteric. There aren't any lingering subplots, except maybe CGs. No minor agendas that outlive an instance, etc. and power play is the corpse of a long dead joke.

The only interactive story we have left is the UA mystery.

Sorry, my bad. Replied before reading back again. ;-)

Yep that's the plan, as well as having a UA on board with all of them too. Would have liked to do a drop test but too risky don't want to lose any
We'll then probably sell them in 49 Aretis and see if they can use any to fix their problem

Nice plan. Good work.

Did we try approaching the UA using reverse thrusters, FA off, while spinning left, carrying one canister of Fish and two Grain, with a gold paintjob and while typing 'hello' on the COMMs exactly 12 times, in 4 systems more than 150ly out from merope, and 3 systems just less than 135ly out of Merope?
EDIT: I should stop asking, it's probably in the wiki.

Off course we did, but I think we should try it with a T7.

Not within 135 Ly of Merope, between 135 and 150 Ly of Merope. Try some systems from this list: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1nbAAtymsXCJib_plQtbjGPkVqlr3VuJxEE95N2n6Phs

I've tried that exactly. Between 135 and 150... also tried that excel file of course... tried 4 system described there as a place where they were found to no avail.
Anyway, another cmdr showed me where he finds them... I'll stick here to try and see if my luck gets better... but so far I did 4 SSS and only pirates...? When he showed me there was one in the first signal he jumped in!
Am I just silly unlucky or what?

ok so I'm in the Hyades sector, 138.18ly from Merope... did 10 SSS with no UA, only 7 pirates jumping at my throat in each. (I'm not counting the 40 I did this morning in other systems)
So I think I am now officially a part of the Unknown part of the Artifact... I think my destiny is linked to these... I ask the Canonn to help figure out what is my purpose as being the only cmdr who is avoided by UAs.... maybe I should go to these damaged stations and they'll just improve as long as I'm docked?

edit: I propose for a scientific committee to wing with me to test the veracity of my claim and help me out with this peculiar fate of mine in connection with the UA :D I think I'm the chosen! :)

Either way - it definitely has the hallmarks of a scanning/recon effort. The question then is: scanning for what? They scan us, yes, but if you're looking for ships, then you'd do it in inhabited space so you can do it where you're more likely to get targets.

I think it more likely they're scanning for some*where*. And wherever that is, it's a place I want to be.

This pre-supposes that whoever sent these 'probes' knew where exactly the bubble / population centre is. Perhaps the purpose of the UAs is two-folder. Phase 1: Scan systems, find civilisations. Phase 2: Once civilisation has been found, scan their vessels/technology.

Erm bar 1 !! Cargo hatch failed as I was docking ejecting 3 rare's.. got 2 back with limpets. lost the Yaso kondi leaf.. Sorry ! But I can confirm non of the rare's stop the UA eating your ship !!!

ah, i'll go and grab that one again. I also have the sothis gold that's still needed

That would mean that you would be only person who wasn't at the center of the universe. Which means that by definition, YOU would literally be the edge of the universe!

If it makes you feel any better, I hear the edge is the new center ;)

Are you implying that people defines the universe? I doubt the universe rate us that highly.

Hey Commanders, I reached Sag A 2 days ago and I've just arrived at the Great Annihilator on my journey back (after a detour to a completely undiscovered planetary nebula) and I have a question I can't seem to find an answer to.

When I was there and was looking at the system map (516,000 solar masses lol) and noticed that upon selecting the black hole it was making a noise which sounded like Morse code and other static noises coming from it (quite loudly may I add). Has anyone investigated this noise? I haven't found any posts about it (although I haven't looked thoroughly to be quite honest). If it's been discussed then I apologise for not reading enough :p

Cheers fellow explorers and good luck out in the beige :-D
CMDR Kultir

Edit: Bit of clarification as to why I ask this. When I reached The Annihilator about an hour ago, I noticed there was no noise on the system map upon selecting it. So I reselected Sag A and viewed the system map again. This time there was no noise (guess you have to be in the system). Went for a smoke break and was reading this thread and noticed mention of Morse code. Had a quick look and didn't find anything about Sag A, so posted this to see if I have missed something.
Just wish I'd have had the foresight to record it.

We're preparing the 'special' set of probes, just for you. Please deliver yourself to Thompson Dock in Varati and further information, and various waivers for you to sign, will be given.

It all still screams Thargoid to me, we know they are coming one way or another.

I read my first posts yesterday.....Thargoids, in Regor.

I stand by that guess.....although admittedly the location may well be the wrong side of the bubble lol.

That's where the smart money is for Thargoids

Yes, it does, you're right.

On a related note - and assuming the shell is still there next time things change - it'll be interesting to see if it gets thinner, fatter or stays the same. And whether it gets bigger or smaller.

Just thinking that we still can't determine whether a finite amount might have been 'sent out' from Merope, or if they might be replicating as they move.

If the outer shell radius gets larger, but the shell thickness stays the same, or gets bigger, then they're replicating.

Otherwise, there's a chance it was a finite amount of UAs.

(Allowing for the fact that no such 'travelling' by a cloud of UAs has even been observed. And that the current positioning is entirely driven by FD setting parameters on the server)

Er Guys...

Just been thinking... Has anyone tried to attach the end of the UA to a utility mount? Look like the end would be the same size? Using the debug cam and thrusters?

???
