Any further consequence (station shutdowns, Galnet articles) is quite likely just FD narrative and attribute injection. Whether that's a result of that monitoring or just reading forums/reddit isn't known since
- Any station which has been affected was publicly discussed by pilots either in Reddit or these Forums as being a point of sales for UA
- Many pilots have sold UA privately to stations (i.e without discussion, 100 UA in my case), and to date nobody has claimed that a "secret" station has appeared in a Galnet article.

All that said, it is pretty much accepted that sales of UAs is the cause of the malfunctions, regardless of the mechanism making that cause (though the mechanism does affect player agency in events).

Was hoping for something more immediate, though, but I guess I should have guessed that the UA sales are already a thing done in massive quantities... Argh. I suppose in that case I might as well not bother carrying them as far as Lave anymore, and just do nearest-BM-station runs instead.

Gotta say though, carrying corrosive illegal cargo is extremely fun - I think this could make for a great template for new long-range smuggling missions, where you have to get corrosive cargo a long way off. Definitely adds a bit of tension and excitement.

Sadly, I don't reddit

Sirius inc has had iapodes, pic tok and now ngalia progress, we need to collec and sell as many of these items to less risky outer rim systems. While still allowing research into this potential technology based virus. We are also trading heavily with the systems we sell UAs to, bringing in personell and other high technology items in an attempt to minimize the disruption caused by UAs while still allowing research

Man, these guys will spit it if my CG gets off.

especially when he claims his group is solving the mystery faster than any other player group.. and was shocked when I explained to him that the UA points to Merope... he's also analyzing the chittering for any hidden patterns.

Yep, they're just insanely rare. I have seen one as recently as last weekend if that helps.

Being the SRV capable of holding just two canisters, there is no direct "griefing" threat.

Hmmm... Ambiguous it was, but MB did come here to say that the degradation after being dropped was a 'feature' of the UA.

Now, yes, he could have meant it was a feature in the same way that it's feature of all dropped cargo; or he could have been alluding to more.

Therefore, I'd be careful about ruling out something specific to the UA.

I'm guessing all cargo dropped from the SRV doesn't degrade? If so, then I'd be happier to accept that it is just an oversight in mechanics on FDs part.

We had one commander, who tried to communicate with UAs, by script-typing morse coded messages into chat window. Do we now (after Base-2 ''Hello world'' message in another tab in chat window) have a clue on how to communicate with them?

Nope. Tried. Tried after people said they had tried. Tried despite being told it had been tried after people has said they had tried and nothing works. (Guilty as charged.) Tried again and not admitted to because too shamed to admit that someone else had said they had tried everything and nothing works. (I didn't get this far.)

No one is trying again for real until 2.0 goes release because the Devs are sneaky and won't blend in the new code for the UAs until release.

could be but also there's quite a difference in style between the comment about the UA sales (text speak with random punctuation) and the comment describing the group as an applied science outfit. Maybe just the difference between logging on with a phone and a desktop but anyway virtual rep to them for the ironic user name.

Well, surely it is better to have confirmation of negative results from multiple sources in any case.
