I wholly agree.
In fact, I think we need to start taking into consideration that the Devs are "rolling with it", where they have an idea of where the story is to go, but not how they will get there.

If true, then it is great that the players can inspire and provide ideas.. but a negative is that there is no solid story for us to solve, and that the devs are only a half step ahead of us storywise, but behind in story related game mechanics.

Just my thoughts.

May we all bask in the truth that is The Empire.

We do know the story line, but we're also allowing flexibility to respond to player activity. Sometimes it will unlock the next part of thread and on occasion change the direction completely.

I keep thinking about whether NPCs are being set to sell the things too. I suspect that if they are taking stations from discussions, it might be to set numbers being sold by NPCs based on where we are generally selling, but partly based on where they think it would be more logical to sell... or something like that. I don't think I'm managing to make the sense out of this post that I am intending :D

I'm not sure about the details of NPC trade. My understanding is that spawning NPCs are of an archetype. Not to long ago there was a change to the cargo spawned in inbound NPC traders, putting more emphasis on demand in target system/station.
The combination of increased UA price and systems with black markets in all stations (Warky has 6 stations) may create a high demand?

I don't think anyone has ever seen a civilian NPC with an UA onboard, so the the hole point is a little far fetched. I'm really just curious about what's going on in those two systems:)

Jaffa Cake :)

Michael

my first thought was Jaffa Kree!

"What the hell does 'kree' mean?"
"Well, actually, it means a lot of things. Loosely translated it means 'Attention', 'Listen up', 'Concentrate'."
"'Yoo-hoo'?"
"Yes, in a manner of speaking."
—Daniel Jackson, responding to Jack O'Neill

they are known as soft cake in austria/germany...
mhmmmm :)

Well - since you dropped by Michael, I have a general question.

Do NPCs trade in Black Market goods?

Thanks for popping up from time to time to clarify, Michael. That's much appreciated.

Being Horizon a payed expansion, I tend to think that there will not be an UA "solution" on some planet surface: some collateral things perhaps, but not the solution itself. Should the mystery be accessible to everyone playing the base Game? Am I wrong with this assumption?

If you ask my opinion, btw, I think that the game is evolving, and that Planetary Landing is a huge part in ED, so it would be a shame to not USE it also in the UA mystery ;)
It will obviously mean that, if you want to "play the UA game" you will have to get on Horizon, sooner or later. But that's my opinion.

Could be nice to know yours ;)

After chatting with the hidden Ai in the Gnosis main frame I feel it is necessary to being to your attention the following information
.
A biscuit:-
.
1, Should Break and emit small parts of itself in to the sounding space.
2, Should taste just as good dipped in Coffee, Tea or Milk, (Hot cold to personal preference).
3, Be capable of choking small Thargoids if they try to eat it in one go.
4, Have graded variations from "plain" to "Chocolate" coated
.
It is worth noting this Ai has called him self V.I.N.N.I.E and has a particular fetish for a given brand
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiB1nSXQeK0
.
It should also be noted he has control of the ships Toilets, Vending machines and Airlocks !
.
Your call if you want to argue with him, I am just passing on friendly advice.......;)

This made me think of Oreos, which made me think of Nabisco (who make Oreos), which triggered my memory that Nabisco was originally called the National Biscuit Company.

I wonder when the usage changed in the US.

He's certainly capable of intellectual conversation, hell, I've even heard him crack a mildly witty joke before. However, I advise that you do NOT open up to him emotionally.

Enoch is a psychological warfare class AI designed to communicate with and destroy hostile AI at a fundamental level. Though he may be able to tell the difference between humans and AI, I don't want to catch anyone running around the Gnosis naked, smearing cave paintings on the wall in blood.

He's polite, knowledgeable, and loves lame puns. But don't let his white hair, robe, and kindly old face fool you, that satchel of scrolls he carries contains personality analysis algorithms that are the equivalent to a psychological neutron bomb!

Other than that, completely harmless. No control over any ship functions, just some one to talk to on expeditions and the Gnosis' last resort weapon against hostile AI.

Nice. Do you keep a list of player activity affecting the story line? If so, it'd be cool to release it once the UA mystery is over so that we know which specific actions made the story evolve/change completely.

Hmm...someone mentioned poutine? Made that for dinner last night at home...some canned Campbell's gravy (mix of chicken, beef, and turkey), some shredded mozzarella cheese, and some fries in my deep fryer. Easy and tasty...although not exactly healthy LOL

And on topic...very interesting info that the devs have an idea of the storyline, but are reacting to what we're doing to make course corrections and even major changes to the plot.

In regards to the UA mystery i just relistening to dirk gently's holistic detective agency and when dirk is stuck on a near impossible question his secretary suggests he asks a child for the answer because of children's open mind and uncluttered thinking process. he dose and gets the answer to his problem. i remember that when the first UA was found i showed the youtube vid to my nephew (3 half years old) he said it sounded like morse code. is this the answer are we over thinking things do we need to start looking at this with a child's mind set remember our age when most of us picked up elite for the first time.

Il get out of my high chair now.

Damn, right when I'll be wandering around on the Disney parks in Florida LOL I'll have to do the update overnight one night while we're down there...maybe strip the RAM out of my old laptop to get to minimums until I can upgrade too.
