Thank you. But as you said there were three different endings and we do not know which or if any one of them is canon. Not at all.

There are three endings, but this one is the only one that reasonably explains why the Alliance are not producing their own vessels. The bombing of New Rossyth shipyard is another possible explanation, but that one seem a little thin after 45 years.
The Alliance is quiet because they are bound by treaties. These treaties were forced upon them by the Imp/Fed anti Thargoid coalition, after the Argents Quest failed to deliver the Mycoid antidote. Because of this, the Thargoids left and the Alliance were left by it self.
The treaties also limit the technology the Alliance is allowed to produce. Hence no Alliance ships.
Now the former president has launched an appeal for exploration data that she hopes will validate her claims. According to a member of her personal staff, the former leader believes the data will prove there are super-intelligent beings living in the depths of space.
The former Federal president released a brief statement to the media:
"They are out there. I have seen them. We must put aside our petty differences and work together to establish contact. There is so much we could learn from them."
Galnet said:The appeal begins on the 7th of April 3302 and will run for one week.
Galactic News: Exploration Data Appeal Reaches Conclusion
05 MAY 3302
The office of Jasmina Halsey has announced that the former president's appeal for exploration data has reached a successful conclusion. Although Halsey's claims of transcendent experiences have been dismissed by much of the political elite, the wider galactic community was more receptive, with hundreds of independent pilots taking to their ships to gather exploration data for Halsey's appeal.
In the wake of the appeal's success, a member of Halsey's personal staff released a statement to the media:
"On behalf of President Halsey, I would like to thank all those who supported this appeal. The data you submitted will now be analysed to determine if it can tell us more about the beings seen by President Halsey. With luck, this investigation will set us on a path to making contact with these extraordinary beings."
So apparently Halsey as a gypsy leader will be our way of making a future first "friendly" contact with the alien race. Hm.
Not at all.
Halsey leaving politics is just speculation. She seem to be in a more 'spiritual' mindset at the moment.
The coming of a new Eranin War seem obvious. The two main aggressors of the 3300 Eranin war, Patreus and Hudson are building for war and Eranin is 'featured' heavily in the last newsletter. Missions for landmines, makes me think that we may even see ground combat scenarios.[up]
The situation of the Alliance is deducted from FFE history. In FFE the main story had several branches, based on player choice. We don't know for sure, which one FD has chosen to follow.
The 'Thargoid story' had three main branches:
- Player deliver Mycoid antidote to Thargoids. The Alliance/Thargoid faction wins. We get galactic peace and Thargoid goodies.
- Player deliver Mycoid missil to Thargoid mother ship for INRA. Fed/Imp faction wins. Fed/Imp faction breaks up and all three major factions are in cold ware state. Thargoids are dead.
- Player skips/fails either mission. Thargoids just leaves human space. Alliance is left alone and forced to it's knees. Fed/Imp faction breaks up and all is back to 'normal'.
I think the last option fits best with our current situation.
This scenario is best summed up in this article in the Alliance newspaper 'Frontier News' after player fails to deliver antidote:

WHITHER THE THARGOIDS NOW?
M.C.S
So the 'Argent's Quest' is back in base and the post-mortem has begun. There are a lot of questions that need to be answered, not least amongst them, how the strategists at the AIS could possible have made such a fundamental error in their choice of Commander for what was the galaxy's most audacious voyage. We needed a Commander with skill, a cool head and, above all, the courage to carry through whatever task presented itself and we failed absolutely to find the right person. The diplomatic pressures now being applied to the AIS are not to be taken lightly and it seems likely that, at least in the current generation, a further flight will prove diplomatically impossible.
Our politicians have a certain basic integrity and it is unlikely that they will be able to avoid signing the Treaties being offered them. The welfare of Alliance citizens comes first and there are too many good offers being made for us to turn them down. SO, the five Quest class ships will almost certainly be the last to be built and the four remaining will have no-sale edicts enforced so that those with personal conquest in mind will not be able to take advantage of the overwhelming advantage Quest ownership offers.
It won't stop other ship-designers from attempting to emulate the feat, but few have the necessary resources and none have the combined skills and experience of the Turner-Argent partnership.

I actually think it was the peace option that happened in FFE. The main reason I think this is because of something MB said in the Dev fiction diary #3, starting at around 2:27 he talks specifically about the Thargoids and says:
"And far from forgotten, in the far reaches of the galaxy, humanities old enemy the Thargoids remain. The fragile peace between the two races didn't last long, and far beyond the safety of the navy patrols, explorers still disappear without trace."
Here's a link to the video starting at about the right time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDurmITXzRM&feature=youtu.be&t=145
This is a direct quote from MB word for word. I underlined the word peace because it pretty much says it all. I've read through all of the FFE journals but I don't think I know them as well as you do Han Zen. However this to me seems pretty definitive as to which ending actually happened. As for the reason the peace between us failed there were even hints in the journals regarding that. I remember articles about them not liking the name Thagoids as they thought it was derogatory, also a few articles about a place in the empire selling Thargoid body parts. Plus all three major factions were building trading outpost specifically for trading with the Thargoids but I remember an article that talked about how we (humans) have pretty much nothing to offer them in exchange. And lets not forget good old human paranoia and resentment, and the fact that we have things like pirates in our space. I wouldn't be surprised if the Thargoids kept getting attacked from time to time. There is also the fact that all 3 of the major powers were trying to basically control access to the Thargoids and their tech so the Thargoids probably also got caught up in political dealings. I honestly would have been surprised if the Thargoids had not broken off the peace treaty with us. Anyways, those are my thoughts on the matter, and I mostly wanted to point out what MB said in that Dev fiction diary.

I actually think it was the peace option that happened in FFE.
This is fully possible. I have also been considering that the peace happened, but that the Mycoid mutated on it's own and rendered the vaccine useless. This would have forced the Thargoids to leave our sector.
With the news of Halsey's release from the Clearwater Clinic I thought it time to bump this old thread again. So has she been cured of a bout of space madness, an affliction well known to explorers, or has she been brainwashed by shadowy figures?
There is only one person right now who needs to be afraid of Halsey's release: Felecia Winters.
Winters was Jasmina Halsey's Secretary of State. If Halsey returns to the political scene she could overshadow Winters and potentially push her out of Power Play by resuming leadership of the Federation's Liberal Party. Just the kind of kick in the pants the Winters' Power Play needs to reinvigorate itself after having lost so much ground after the 2.1 release.
Halsey could offer a different set of perks to Power Players that might help lure people over to her faction.
that she had recently met with Alliance Prime Minster Edmund Mahon, and that she would soon be relocating to a system within Alliance space
