Ok so a new article has been released. And no I'm not talking about the one on the Thargoids. Though interesting as it fully acknowledges their existence within the E: D lore, it's not the most interesting article. The following one is:
Ok. Remember my theory last year? I wondered WHY the Antares Incident happened, and why it was linked to SS1's disappearance. George Fallside was a strong character in my theory, but given the fact he has been used in a player-submitted article, I came to the conclusion he was not that important, but its organization (Core Dynamics) might still be. Therefore, from now on I will use Core Dynamics instead of George Fallside.
So, Core Dynamics was involved in the Antares Incident (Prior knowledge of Smeaton's death (a relative of whom died in the Antares Incident)) and SS1's disappearance (through Nick Baron). Both incidents indicate an FSD failure (explosion just before the jump). Sirius Corp was the manufacturer for the Antares, and Core Dynamics was for SS1. They were both working on a NEW KIND OF FSD.
Now both corporations are working in R&D and are maybe doing the same thing as MetaDrive Inc., which is building yet another hyperdrive. Thus, I think the following theory (or at least part of it) is still valid:
"In my version, the INRA used A.I and Thargoid technology to repeat history: force the Thargoids to appear so that we start a war - again, and throw our money at Core Dynamics and other big ships manufacturers."
However here, instead of buying their ships, we would be buying their new hyperdrive modules. If Thargoids are able to "execute huge hyperspace jumps", we will need to keep up with them, at least to retaliate quickly to...Jaques Station in case the current human bubble is compromised.
PS: I repeat, I haven't come up with this theory, I'm just trying to put everything into a coherent blob.
Feedback very welcome. Popov out.
Galactic News: Economic Turmoil Ahead? - 12 AUG 3302
According to the Galactic Finance Times, analysis of the largest corporations in the Federation and the Empire reveals evidence of a significant economic downturn in the coming years.
"We're seeing poor revenue forecasts for a wide range of corporations, including big names like Sirius, Gutamaya and Core Dynamics," said a correspondent for the Galactic Finance Times. "They should be concentrating on marketing to leverage new product ranges, but instead they're diverting resources into intensive research and development. They're ignoring the traditional sales cycle, and we don't know why. It's perplexing."
Shareholders have seen poor returns on their investments in recent months, with stock prices dropping across multiple sectors, although this has given others a chance to pick up stock at bargain prices. Several of the pertinent corporations were contacted by the Galactic Finance Times, but none deigned to respond.
Despite the GFT's report, some commentators blame the downturn on the London Treaty, which was signed by the galaxy's three major powers in 3278 following the introduction of the frame shift drive. The treaty enforces strict tonnage limitations for capital ships, and was aimed at preventing an arms race, but in recent years it has come to be perceived as a barrier to economic development.
One option for investors looking for a risky but possibly lucrative venture is a start-up called MetaDrive Inc., a small company based in the Chi Orionis system specialising in hyperdrive research. The company is reported to be seeking investment.

[ This theory has been around for ages, I haven't come up with it, I'm just pointing out the fact the afore-mentioned article gives a strong hint towards it. ]
