UAs, Barnacles and other mysteries Thread 8 - The Canonn

Earlier this day I popped into the Pic Tok system to relay an important message to the SDC , but due to haste some parts became garbled. I shall post it here for all of their lurkers/infiltrators extracting sensitive event data from this thread.

"To all Smiling Dog Crew employees present during this day events, please relay this message to your employer.
I'd like to make an official complaint concerning the unacceptable beheavior of a certain CMDR [REDACTED].
During his routine patrol at Scott Orbital, Apademak system, this individual, who's callsign is clearly inspired by a fictional male mage with strong sight defect, proceeded to emit strange sounds consistent with sexual arousal of considerable proportions. A few moments later he simply left.
It made several customers severly disgusted, angered and considering legal action. These customers demand an official apology from said commander, as well as an assurance that such an incident would not be repeated.
Moreover, SDC pilots , we understand you have a very stressful job and it is only natural to release your tension in the most pleasant of ways, but leaving a comm open is unacceptable.
You are, after all, professionals with much expierence in your fields.
Do not ruin your exemplary reputation in such a way."

I do understand the frustration, and yes we were given a clue to be ready for a hunt that began on the 28th... but thats not to say we were told to be most excited... surely that day will be when they (whatever they are) will arrive... it's all a mystery is the point I'm trying to make. People shouldn't be trying to solve it within hours of it starting, and they shouldn't be getting p***ed off and losing momentum so early on in this whole hunt when they don't get their own way of it being solved already.

The rest of your post i do agree with, it's good to see new players, however, I don't think they would be up to speed so soon after a weekend of trying to figure out how the heck to fly a sidey for the first time!

It's been so long though, with so many false dawns. I remember around the Horizons release getting really excited about finding what was really going on when we headed to first headed to Merope to go barnacle hunting. Everyone in chat, racing to be the first to the Pleiades. Would there be Thargoids? Would some nutter make first contact with laser fire, or would it be peaceful?

That didn't happen. We found another round of riddles, red herrings, digging carefully through hints from trailers and searching for mysterious objects. It was all interesting, good science, but it didn't look anything like a solution. Then there was the business of the Unknown Probes (which I missed). Now we've got another round, and it's back to waiting and searching. People want some payoff.

I'd change that to CMDR Bespectacled Wizard, if I were you, to avoid the name-and-shame ban-hammer.

And to make my clients angry ? It is his fault for breaking the established code of conduct and simple social norms in such a way. My clients demand results, not excuses.

Off the record, ban-hammer for such an innocent joke pointed at these pirates, who ruined the experience for so many CMDRs ? Isn't it a little overzealous ?

But the hunt didn't begin on the 28th. It started on the 27th with more clues and puzzles and while not flying around the universe, was at least a mental exercise to solve instead of three fetch quests by a trio of addicts which may or may not be getting off on yanking our chains around in the biggest con this side of The Leesti Sandwich Job. And none of this has yet required PRE-Logistics support in a system with three rings, two belts, one star, and enough gamma to turn you green.

If it turns out to be a con , it will be somewhat cool.
Realistic as well.

But I hope it leads to some resaults , because I still dont know how I feel about a gang or drug users being part of the key

Elite Dangerous is Pegi 7, isn't it?

ERSB is T: Content is generally suitable for ages 13 and up. May contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling and/or infrequent use of strong language.

I'd say it not over the fence at all.

Technically the first clue was at the gamma station in that system.

Then I stand corrected. However more puzzles dropping the day before the hunt was supposed to begin felt a bit bait and switch.

Plus I stand by the idea that this is a con that three drunken freighter captains came up with to get a thousand pilots to ship stuff to them for nothing more than the promise of reading a fortune cookie over an open channel.

I just saw I have a private message from Raisa, she is fine!!!!!
Abort rescue mission!

Ok, I'm on the icy body in pic tok - the landscape looks like it could fit the image from the Braben interview. Anyway, I dont do planet side stuff much, so not sure if this is unusual or not, but I have 3 POI's literally overlapping each other. . .

Dropping down. . .

It's a good job this forum has smarter CMR's than me though, or this mystery would have taken even longer just to get to here, though I am happy to fund the Cannon Research group but cannot travel further than 500 LY myself because I'm scared of the Honey Monster and what lurks in the abyss of those places that do not have space stations....Exploration is far too scary for me.....leave it to the Professionals I say.

Not sure if this is related in any way to this thread but I found a crashed ship. I tried posting in the main forum but since i am new (and a newbie) my post needs to be approved by moderation. Not sure how long it will take and I need an expert opinion quickly. I found the crashed ship while playing solo, on one of the planets of the Bilfrost System. Are this normal occurring events? Not sure what to do next. It's protected by skimmers and apparently the skimmers are wanted. Should I shoot them up with the SRV and then try and scan the ship? I have a video but will post it in the next post.

Just the usual cannister POI's from what I could find.

Not sure how common crashed ships are. Easy enough to shoot the skimmers and scan it though, you'll get a small bounty claim for them too!

Good luck!

thx, so I have still some time to celebrate my continental breakfast, before packing scanners and take off : )

nice but normal

So I just woke up again, and checked the FP.

After bringing Lavian Brandy to Scott Orbital did anything else happen? Are we waiting for tomorrow at the same time to meet Otto Granger again?
