We've been in the system since shortly after the message was decoded, no Bounty Hunter yet. Maybe it will be a playerNPC, maybe a spawn event, maybe a mission on the bulletin board. None of which have happened yet, so I think it's safe to assume that the hunt starts on the 28th. Of course, there is no harm hanging around in that system before then, you can always explore the planets, go mining/bounty hunting, and running missions. You may come across something interesting, but I wouldn't sit around waiting for it.

It would be cool to have one more bit of information, such as at what time?

Still, confirmation that it's actually the correct system would be nice... There could be another system somewhere that matches that description even better, and FDEV didn't realise the one we have currently existed lol.

I'll settle the argument. An Octagon (read Thargoid ship) has 10 sides. It has 8 edges, a top side and a bottom side. Isuppose you could add an inside and outside too.
No, we know all the Pre-logistics systems, and that one is the only one that matches the two belts thing. So it has to be that one, it's pretty specific.
Don't forget, this isn't a "Unknown Probe message" puzzle that takes Pythagorean theorem to work out. This is "a small game" to let us find the ... thing... rather than showing us a screenshot of it. I hope (famous last words)

Wouldn't that give it 20 sides if you counted the inside and outside of each face? TBH I'm not sure that's how polyhedrons are identified though.

Do you know what - after having long been a sceptic on the Rift story, I think we just might. Depends how FD and Drew take it forward - but I'm genuinely starting to have faith.
Everyone must now keep their eyes peeled on everything, lest we miss something important. There's really no need to even say that I know - but, after some of my more negative comments recently, I think it's right I do.
Not sure who these people are who make such demands. I quite happily follow both and chip into both regularly. However I can only actively take part in one at a time. Right now I am out in the rift, having been beyond in for a week or so. I am now making my way back via a number of targets and test but want to be back for the 28th... at which point I will try to involve myself in whatever will start then.
I'm tempted to go over to their thread and ask things like "have you checked x system? Or what about y nebula?" Just the most obvious first places they would have checked haha
