I landed on Obsidian station today... and what a surprise... now the Maia system is owned by Pranav Antal.

any possible bad impact for explorers like me ?

It isn't owned by Antal, they are trying to expand there. Control may come next week and it shouldn't make any real difference to you.

I don't want to visit maia anymore because bots will interdict me 10 times per minute...
Good job fd...

Total FUD. No one gets interdicted every 10 minutes & the actions of a player group have nothing to do with the devs. If you have a problem with Antal expanding to Maya get a few people together and oppose them. The triggers are very much in your favour.

If Antal gets in, the black market will be closed down. Won't security go up, as well? If another player who isn't aligned to Antal enters the system, will they not be interdicted as per PP NPC mechanics?

Also, as Maia is anarchy, having even 1 escape pod in your cargo hold will trigger pirate interdiction. I know the station was built for explorers, but I'd never risk selling data there when only 10 jumps away I can find a safer place. What we hoped for with Maia was an explorers paradise and what we got was a backwater pirate den that I wouldn't dare fly a D grade conda through.

1. I though that he already own system. And no, nobody will get interdicted every 10 minutes. everyone will get interdicted EVERY 1 MINUTE. For normal players it's nothing, but for explorers it's horror.
2. Founders world cannot be controlled by powers, devs should do same for maia.
3. Most of Maia visitors are explorers. There is no way to oppose them by exploring so...

Black Markets will be closed, yes.
No idea about security, wiki page on powers doesn't list any security bonuses under Antal, but it is also probably out of date.
Only players who are pledged to a power other than Antal will be interdicted. Players not pledged to any power are safe.

This is true anywhere, not just anarchy systems.

See my first point. You only get interdicted by powerplay NPCs *if* you are pledged to a power, or if they belong to Archon Delaine who is a pirate power, basically. If you aren't pledged, this is a non-issue.
3. Most of Maia visitors are explorers. There is no way to oppose them by exploring so...

Broken record, but if you aren't pledged, Powerplay effects are almost a non issue (except for black markets, i guess) for non pledgers. If you are pledged to an opposed power. Sure you can't oppose Antal by exploring, but if you aren't in powerplay, you can't oppose anyone anyway, and there's no *hostile* reaction to non-pledgers, except in the case of Archon Delaine again.

If you *are* pledged, correct, you can't undermine by exploring, but as a pledger, you should know how to undermine, so go ahead and do it if you are pledged.

Big thing to bear in mind is that this is also nothing but a glory attempt by Antal's supporters. It will be a huge loss for them to maintain this system as it'll generate no CC whatsoever, and is very far from the HQ (and isn't the first they've gone to hold). The minute they get sent into turmoil (which happens regularly for all powers), it's a prime candidate to be lost.

Not being able to sell ua to research station dedicated to study them [up]

Ah okay, I heard a rumor that Antal increases security. It may be implied, but not something that actually has any effect on game play.

I think it's funny that a power would try to own Maia. I'm not so sure it's beneficial to the player base, though.

That is a concern sure, but there's no actual mechanic there to "do research" as you say without there being a CG or some other goal added by FD. In those circumstances, FD can make the necessary changes.

Well... without a BM we never would have been able to crash OO hehe

As I said, I'm unpledged so the idea is humorous to me. Won't effect me, but people like Irongut who are pledged to other powers, not Antal, might have more of a say in the matter as they will be subjected to PP mechanics.

Yeah, there was only so long I could tolerate the constant interdictions in my home system when I defected to Alliance so I could (effectively) fight the Imperial faction with reign over my (Imperial) Homeworld :) I dont care much for PP in it's current form.

I guess the point is though, if you're pledged, you fight. It's not surprising that a power would look to take over a system, whether it's a very beneficial system, a popular system, or just outright strategic. You can't really deny that Antal's capturing of distant frontier systems will put a hamper on other powers doing the same later on down the track. But that's what powerplay is about in a way,,, if you're pledged, you fight. Otherwise the powers play their politics above the heads of the unpledged, who go about their business relatively unaffected. That's actually a fairly key philosophy for my faction... but anyways,, this is all kinda off-topic to UA's etc..

If you're pledged, you'll be affected, but if you're pledged, you should be fighting back (or defending). If you're unpledged, the impact is minimal. Getting FD to intercede every time someone touches a "place of significance" is not the right way to go. I was even dubious about Shinrata Dehzra being made "off limits"...

I mean, what if Varati became a Federal control system for Hudson next cycle? Would there be calls to get that "ignored" because of players who are pledged and contributing to the various CGs that go on there?

Just so you know my crossing the rift (at least I m between arms) has come to an end. Can't make the next jump, need to backtrack a lot. BTW, This NGC 7822 nebula i believe is a clue to the barnacles. Look at this star pattern, It looks like Wht you see on the pods on the UA.

That's my favorite nebula and I'm actually there right now. Fully scaning all systems now with S171 prefix and visiting all planets within current goldilocks zone for barnacles. About halfway through now. Nothing special yet, but oddly enough there are 48 numbered systems S171 with the prefix S171. But after scanning S171 48 to S17 21 (working backwards) I noticed S171 38 is missing. Can't find it on Galmap. I wonder what happened and if it is missing intentionally.

System 43 has a very nice planet that is very barnacle like, just that i'm very unlucky with them, I could not see them when they first appeared even when right on the spot. I had to log in and log out a a lot of times. I got better with patch but still they tend to pop a few hundred meters aways from me. Maybee its my gfx setting.

Is "barnacle-like" the new type of "earth-like?" :D

OK. I made a small discovery.

There is only one type of Blue Fireflies. The UA flies only look bigger becuase of the magnification effect of the distortion field.

This is easy to see if you put an UA next to an MA, but not to close. The flies around the MA will look like UA flies (like in Engalo's fandango). If you move closer, the flies will gradually shrink back to their true size.

So - only one type of Firefly.

Who here thinks that this new galnet report that the feds ship was destroyed by these possible aliens and not of the empire. Its close to 2.1 they said 2.1 will bring more about UAs and barnys and now this new news report about the ships malfunction was a proposed attack.

Hi guys,

I'm pretty sure this has been mentioned before, but just in case there have been new developments, the systems CL PISMIS 13 and CL PISMIS 19 (in NGC 6357) are glitched, they are located in the same spot, the only way to jump to either is if you are lucky when selecting it in the gal map, cannot jump while in one of these systems to the other because "the destination target is obscured". Just wondering if FDev have been notified via bug report?

Thanks,

Omate.

Yup, it's been deemed "The Varetian Leap" by someone whose name I cannot remember. It was found earlier in this thread and a bug report was submitted. Got an interesting response too!
