Hi guys, quick question, is there such a thing as FSD failure? I mean, has anyone experienced having the countdown from SC to a FS jump canceled 3/4 without touching the controls? Not implicating anything, just never experienced such a thing on feel like i want to make sure it's common. Thanks

I experimented a bit with this last year.
From my tests, there were never issues after the countdown started.
There were hicups during charging, when Ii had FDD malfunction.
With FDS failure, it doesn't charge at all.

Hmm, ok, thanks. I did just have my jump canceled 3/4 into the countdown (2~), it made a bit of a blurp noise too - but no other effects whatsoever. I put it down on the upgraded fsd. System is out at Jaques, just 2 stars, no ss, did drop an UA for good measure, nothing to see really. Still, had to check, thanks again

Could be something new. I never managed to get a failure during countdown. I had 3 UAs onboard, when I did the tests, to speed up damage. I also used heat damage from silent running.
If you have just one UA and an otherwise intact ship, I'm surprised you had the failure at all.
Sure you didn't manually abort?

Morning all, I was just wondering if there were a certain amount of meta alloy that you can hold to negate the effects of an unknown artifact?

On my mission to gain access to the CRCR, I made it is far as getting the Sirius permit then realized I would need to do more missions for modular terminals... I dont mind them every now and again but I would rather be doing other things. Missions just start feeling like a grind when you want to be elsewhere :/ If I can just load up with meta alloy and be safe I would rather just do that.

Also, getting around Sirius and doing missions for the Sirius corporation to gain the permit, some weird stuff out there. Nothing conclusive yet, and I know some may find this amusing, but I'm getting what I can only describe as an uneasy feeling.

Maybe I have spent too long wrapped in my tinfoil, but I'm noticing many strange things. I have been seeing a lot of the local news feeds with the articles about strange ships being sighted and military transports being raided for mysterious cargo that provokes a "war" state in the system.

I have noticed a huge Federal presence in the area, it seems almost everywhere around Sirius is under heavy attack from the feds. Capital ships and everything. Whilst they are making a big public announcement about heading into Pleiades, they are already forcing their way in over around Sirius. What do they want there?

On top of it all, the study of the UP I have done through video, audio and images unsettles me. It is... I dont know.. different to the UA and the barnacles. The look of them and ESPECIALLY the song... It just doesn't sound right to me. I could listen to a ripe barnacle for hours but the UP sounds angry almost.

I have decided I dont want one. I dont want to try to make one, or steal them from anyone else. I apologize as I did have plans of research and sharing here, but I just can't. I will still of course be pouring my research into barnacles ( still am trying to work out how to grow them ;) ) and even unknown artifacts but the probes are something I must step back from.

Fly safe commanders o7

I don't understand what I'm missing. How do the numbers decrypt? What is their plain text? It looks like the system names were just "anagramed" by knowing how many of each letter there were from the middle line of the message. That doesn't answer what the numbers are in each language?

Systems names were a key confirmation - all letters being used to build the key -, basically a group of systems together would add up the letters to confirm the key.

The numbers decrypt this way, e.g. First bunch of numbers on two languages:
english: 353133313639313835
german: 39313331363531383932313133

Hex-decode them to get:
english: 513169185
german: 9131651892113

normal dictionary substitution to de-cipher (A = 1, B = 2,.. E=5, .. I=9, ... Z=26)
english: 5 13 16 9 18 5 - EMPIRE
german: 9 13 16 5 18 9 21 13 - IMPERIUM

The numbers decrypt as: empire duval systems local galnet beacon

Sorry, but a bit OT.
As of next week I will probably be offline for a few weeks due to RL (moving from one country to another), so if someone discovers a UP during that time I will be unable to update the spreadsheet for those. So, is there anyone out there that would like to help out adding discoveries while I am gone (ie. get edit access to the spreadsheet)? By the looks of it, it won't be much work ;)
PM me if interested.

Hoping to join in on the UP event tomorrow, but RL is taking its toll. If I don't make it, I hope you find lots!!

Well, well well. +REP
The encryption method is new and interesting.
In the past, the only two methods used to give clues for this kind of CG were MORSE and RIDDLES.
Now we have: HEX and a substitution letter + numbers code.

We should keep this in mind, while looking for new hidden messages in the UP.

Hex is not new. We've seen ascii messages coded as hexadecimal strings before.

Hello all, not sure where to put this curious find but thought you would be interested. Stopped by the crashed T9 in Chorathia recently and was greeted by a persistent Cobra named Eidolon. Thought that was interesting, googled him and he is literally the Greek word for ghost or phantom. He hovers above and near the crash site, attempting to lure you there.

Re 3D tooling / mapping out messages.

Help. :)
I have no idea where to start to try to make a mapping of the messages. Inputs and suggestions are welcome.
- Mapping of the systems where important messages are found vs 'normal' messages.
- Planet & coordinates? Although, I suspect if a ship is in distress, it's not going to be put down on a specific location just to give us a secret hint by combining all the coordinates.

I'm gathering some system map screenshots now.

Gliese 1269 is where Jacques attempted his jump from right? Has there always been so much npc traffic out there since the station left? I was looking for a place to sell some meta alloy that was affected by UA and was going off the list in the galnet article on the 7th July -

https://community.elitedangerous.com/galnet/uid/577e278e9657ba016084db83

and noticed Jaques station Gliese 1269, thought it might be an error but went out anyway. No station on the scanner but a lot of npc traffic, which I thought odd because there is no population anymore?

I just bookmarked the "creepy" ones and eyeballed it. No obvious pattern, they're all over the place. There's no 'front' to speak of.

(Would like to join your cult XD, though I feel somewhat... paling to your intelligence)

I don't know if I'm on to something or if it's just a string of coincidences (I'm thinking the latter, because I'm prone to make a fool our of myself). Though, something very interesting has happened to me today. Mixed in with feeling sleepy and travelling all day, has got me questioning what I saw.

I've been exploring, following some of my own leads to find new barnacle locations, or anything of interest towards my ever growing hunger to simply know more. I ended up approaching the heart and soul nebulae. Now all was fine beforehand, however when I was getting into 'close' proximity, the string of coincidences started.

First, there was lag, when I was in witchspace (well, what I thought to be lag). However, I noticed it was only lagging on a certain part of the travelling sequence. It was a cloud, no matter the background or the colours this 'laggy cloud' was always the item lagging. I took no notice at first but, after one or two jumps of seeing it, I started to look closer.

When the cloud 'froze' I noticed an 'image' on it, the best way I can describe this image, is a constilation of a stick man. Once I saw what it was I put it to the back of my mind (though found myself recording this jump).

About 20 jumps later I saw a cluster of stars in the background, and upon getting even closer to this star cluster, I had to stop. It was an image of a stick man. ... much like the one I came across in Laggy witchspace. So naturally I shuddered thinking what a coincidence, but found my curiosity getting the better of me.

I found the constilation on the galmap and set a course. This is where I was stopped. As I came out of the galmap to prepare myself to jump, all my hud turned red, and there was a shadowy figure, stood in front of the navigation control panel, although brief Ito put my mind at unrest. That is where I decided to call it a day.

I have recordings of both the jump in witchspace and of this shadowy figure. Though I just find it weird how I was carrying out my own leads, and this happens, maybe I'm tired, maybe I'm getting a bit to into the whole thargoid aspect or into the elite game itself.

Though I can give you these videos once I put them on one drive and upload them.

Sorry for the rambling, also on a side note do you have an easily digestible version of the going ons right now? I am having difficulty peering through all these pages on the thread to find out where the 'hot spots' are.

Edit - I just read this back through editing it, I sound like I should be in a special jacket that let's me hug myself all day.

Thank you, I'll try to do the same.
As for now, just a quick album for the System-maps.
