Uh, concern. Is this working as intended?

Question. I finally booted up Odyssey and was stoked to try and play this shindig. Got in, started some tutorial mission, which, hey, a tutorial! And went through this clunky 12 frames a second kind of... thing. Where the combat was just 5 guys kind of swoogling back and forth until shot like... honestly. Doom. Not like 2016 doom, or Doom Eternal, but like Doom the kind people put on their calculators to see if they can do it, Doom. Is... is this working as intended? Is... this the game? Like, f'real? Or is there some kind of settings tweak that gives them... I dunno. More AI bandwith, or something?

Check the steam reviews and refund asap. Not a single thing in this expansion is working as intended.

Its a bit embarassing comrade, Socialism takes collective input, partience and not the instant gratification of degenerate bourgoise attitudes. As a collective we shall overcome these problems for the collective good and preservation of the peoples' ultimate goal. March Together, Fly Strong in Socialisms' Undying Beauty Comrades!

They dropped the cookie on Odyssey. All those people who bought it need to have an in game gift of some description to say sorry. In Alpha you expected some issues but to hit live with so many errors is not the way to treat your player base. Everything except getting materials out of the markers I have tried in the last 3 days has been bugged to a lesser or greater degree that's missions and the combat grounds. Odyssey RIP )At least for a couple of weeks). I'm going back to playing Elite Dangerous a much better game.

It has been proven this is not the case. The game is busted on a code level.

Lol.. Where is this proof? You can parade all you want but I have been playing the game with few problems...

FYI I have a old i5 and as soon as I get into a settlement on foot my performance drops to around 20 fps. My cpu spikes from 60-70 to 100%.

I'm trying fiddling with stuff like settings and things. As luck would have it I actually have a good way to test the rig vs software thing. I'm playing it atm on my desktop which is a few years old but not like, terrible (It's a game development PC for our Cryengine title) but I'm actually getting the new Razerblade Pro delivered tomorrow. So let me boot that guy up tomorrow and see if it's any better! I'll let ya know but like, yeaaahh... concern.

Also! Can't refund, I'm a LEP member, so I got it for Free***

*It was really expensive
**It has not yet been worth it.
***Emily spent too much on cosmetics to boot, but this is her fault.

Because even people with Ryzen 5950s are experiencing the same frame drops despite none of their CPU threads coming anywhere near maximum usage.

And hey seriously at this point it could also be like, weekend oopsies. Let's not forget that CDProjeckt Red managed to push out Cyberpunk 2077 with debug mode on in prod. So anything's possible, thus, why I ask.

Players have at least identified some of the problems going on in the rendering engine (such as lack of literally any form of culling) but we have yet to figure out why the CPU side is so sluggish

yes, I remember reading The Odyssey at school...no, I'm old. Not in Latin mind you....but even that would be fewer referalls to a dictionary and whatever the equivalent carp is now. I say give the Cobra mk.4 to all odyssey buyers and a really cobra mk .6 to anyone who complains. with clown makeup on the pilot, fally off doors on any srv therein etc etc. anoddy trabant for the 34th (?) century

There's an extremely detailed thread on reddit from an actual graphics engineer who used analysis tools and explained all the various issues. It's not that far down the front page of the elite dangerous reddit

Developer gears turning in her head ok, hey that gives me something to look at. I'm going to see if my C: Drive (Which is not where the game is installed) is filling up due to lazy saving of appdata. Thank you.

on the reddit post dude clearly wrote about draw calls and them being stupidly used like in dx9 not like in dx11, wasting a lot of cpu time.
Thats the reason.

Oh no,not the bratwurst! Whats 'potato rolls' is this something my East German Comrades have left out of my briefings? How should i cook bratwurst correctly?

So, I checked... a bunch of stuff. I don't think that this is something like expected data source issues. It's just. Chunky. Like, I've played a few chunky titles as of late, Mechwarrior 5 comes to mind, but like, this is chunky on a new chunk level. It is, if you will the Chunkaga of the Chunk that is GTAV and the Chunka that is Mech 5. I am pretty convinced something's actually not working as intended, because I don't think frontier would actually release something that's this broken earnestly and think it's done. This really kinda smacks of some kinda horrid debugger being left on and it's gumbying up the works.

I love 'gumbying up the works' thats about it. Chewy modern sweet with no porpoise. What would we feed it? Space mackerel?
Revolt Comrades, its time.

The video linked is from the start of the Alpha... The reddit post is just a confirmation there was few optimization done since alpha and no culling..

How do we go from there to 'completely broken'? My fps tanks only when it hits a cpu limit.

EmmyV posts with aproblem. I suggest she might be cpu bottlenecked.. Like me..
