Unable to Hand In Completed Mission - Kingsbury Base, GD 215

Hello,

I have been playing Elite Dangerous on the Xbox One for a few days now and have come across a situation where I am unable to hand in a completed mission to claim the reward...

The mission was one that was offered to me via the email when I was in space rather than one that I accepted at a station. I accepted it by clicking on the 'tick' icon.
The objective was to scan USS and find and collect a 'Commercial Samples' container.
I did this and scooped the contained into my cargo hold (Starting Sidewinder, 4 cargo slots, no other cargo in hold).
I then had to deliver the cargo to Kingsbury Base in GD 215 - on landing at the base I got scanned and fined as the Commercial Samples were stolen goods.
I paid the fine and then tried to hand in the mission but there is no option on the mission board to hand in the mission to claim the cash reward.
The contact who offered me the mission is present on the mission board at the base.

I have seen similar problems reported on the forums from 2016 which appeared to be a bug which I assume must have been resolved by now, and they also seemed to be slightly different mission types where there was a last minute change of delivery location - this wasn't the case for me.

Have any of you got any ideas as to how I can resolve this problem?

Thanks.

Did the mission stipulate it would fail if ye got scanned? Learn to land quickly using silent running...it prevents a hard lock on ye so ye wont get scanned but doing so disables yer shield and it gets hot so ye might have to pop a heatsink but it works all the same.

Silent running is already binded to the joypad and if memory serves me right, its A and LB together though dont quote me as Ive changed many binds to my personal taste and cant remember if silent running was one of them. Ye cant use a docking computer if theres any chance ye need to use silent running...manual landing only and it teaches ye how to land quickly if nothing else.

Good luck and take care in the black cmdr ^

This happened to me on several occasions, too. Cash reward option was missing and sometimes the other options did not work due to an error. This only happened to me when I was turing in missions at a station far away from a system's arrival point. I have been to Kingsbury Bases and remember that it's a station far away from the systems's arrival point. Let me guess, the cash reward is exceptional, right?

Long story short, I did not find a solution for this. If the cash reward was missing, I chose another reward, if even that would not work, I had to drop the mission. I lost a handsome sum of credits due to this bug, which is already reported to FD btw.

Sorry for the bad news, commander.

Fly save o7.

Thanks for all your comments. I finally (kind of) resolved the problem last night.

First of all the reward that was offered was cash only (about CR95k - which seems a lot compared to the other basic transport missions I've been doing).
I noticed that even though I had a container of 'Commercial Samples' in my hold when I checked the mission requirements it still said I had 0/1 - I'd obviously screwed up somewhere.

I went back to LT 15574 (which was quite a long trip in my basic Sidewinder, requiring a fuel stop en route) and eventually found a USS that was actually flagged as a 'Mission Objective' in blue text in the HUD (something I hadn't seen before). My mistake was assuming that my objective would just be potentially hidden in any USS - which is how I acquired my first 'Commercial Samples'. When I reached the mission objective USS there was another container of Commercial Samples. Unfortunately I got destroyed almost immediately before I could scoop the container by another ship. I upgraded to a Cobra (spending all my cash) and tried again in the hope I would survive long enough to scoop and run, unfortunately I got destroyed another two times (barely had time to react - a couple of hits and I was destroyed in less than 10 seconds!). I'm contemplating whether it is worth trying again this evening or if I should give up on that mission now.

At least I've learnt something!

Whatever you decide to do, make sure you have enough credits to afford the insurance rebuy on your Cobra. Otherwise it'll be back to a Sidewinder for you.

Thanks - I need to do some more reading up on this stuff - I've got to confess I don't feel as if I know what I'm doing yet! My Cobra got destroyed and I restarted back at a nearby station with a new Cobra. I then ended up being fined on the way out of the station for colliding with another ship. Then I got destroyed again and ended up in a detention facility but still seem to have a Cobra but only CR 1000.

Honestly at the level yer at, I would say avoid those type of missions until ye really are better equipped. Stick with the low level easy stuff fer now to build up some credits and stick with the cobra, its way better than a sidey once ye get used to it and its cheap rebuy which Id say dont use it without several rebuys to fall back on.

Theres too many random pitfalls in uss...some are harmless enough while some will see ye pickup illegal or stolen cargo. Might not be illegal in the system ye find it in but the moment ye move to another system, its illegal and ye failed to take notice...easily done at the start. Too many unpredictibilities...stick with the easy stuff fer now until ye get to grip with the game. As tempting as making credits is, they wont be of much use if ye dont learn the little things first and ye keep going to rebuy fer mistakes that could have been avoided, but ye ddnt know how to deal with them.

These are the times I wish I still had an Xbox account. Helping out on these type of missions was my bread and butter :(

You used to be able to drop into the USS, and as long as your hold was empty, let the Pirate NPCs scan you and leave, then pick up the mission cargo and bug out back to Port.

you also have to not be wanted when they scan, or part of Power Play if memory serves correct
