That's very cool (or hot i guess) and I love that people like you are trying out interesting things and pushing this game to see what can be done.

New Candidate for hottest star...

Mbombo B, White Dwarf, temperature 23,433 K... :)

Almost didn't fly out to explore this one... :D

Largest Population for an Independent star system is Hyperion, 4 billion.

In fact Hyperion has some interesting characteristics... not been there yet but heading there today if I can.

Another record it holds is the smallest gas giant...

Hyperion 10 A, 9,681 km diameter, Mass 1.2376. It's one of three gas giants orbiting another gas giant... :D

Found this towards the back of the bubble, first Brown Dwarf Star I've encountered with it's own ring system, even has multiple resource extraction sites. Unfortunately there is a bug and the ring itself isn't visible from supercruise. I was mass locked in what looked like open space but eventually made it out :)

Looks quite cool. Maybe it's dark matter rings... :D

I love the amazing variety that our universe has to offer, and the fact that Frontier have been able to model all this in the game is just mind blowing.

Added, damn you Mokonzi I went to Hyperion 10 A a few days ago, but I forgot to post it, oh well first post gets the record :D

Is there argument for fastest spin? I dropped in at 2MASS J07464256+2000321 A which was rotating, at a guess, once every minute or so - I thought I was moving haha.

Interestingly, I couldn't fuel-scoop from it either.

Would love to know if there are any with a faster spin.

Hera is the largest Alliance system so far... 50 million people. You need to tweak the total for the Independent system record... it's missing it's number... :)

Oh, and did I mention that two of them are binary planets? How much more awesome can that get?
I know that it doesn't break any of the records but I just wanted to put it here.

Added new records to original post, keep them coming!
also added link to Gomisan's Thread, Hitchhikers Guide to Beta 3

I just found a system with 11 stellar bodies WD1207-032.

3 Class B Stars

8 T-Tauri Stars

there are also 6 Planets

WD1207-032 AB5 has the fastest spin I have seen so far. About once every 3 seconds.

Added! Wow that's one impressive system. I'm a bit far at the moment, would love to see the system map I'm a bit far at the moment , if you can post a pic that would be great!

Wow, this thread is certainly keeping me busy with the HHGTED. Not that I'm complaining, I like to live vicariously through every one else explorations as I never seem to get as much play time as I would like.

Largest Population in an Alliance System - 4.0Billion at G121-8 - strange that this only has one station though and only one planet suitable for water based life... :S

And the one station was around 450,000 LS from the drop point; maxed out at 850c reaching that!

Hi Commanders,

With a lack of an event during this phase of beta to keep us hard working testers entertained (I really enjoyed the Eranin conflict event which has now mysteriously been put on hold) I have decided to take it upon myself to create one.

Stellar Cartographics Marketing Department in the hope of increasing sales of their range of recently released Discovery Module have launched a new competition open to all commanders, Stellar Cartographics Record Breakers is a new annual data chip soon to be released and entries are currently being accepted.

Stellar Cartographics Spokesman was recently quoted
"Stellar Cartographics Record Breakers is a great chance for Commanders to gain fame and kudos amongst their fellow intrepid explorers not to mention all those children who will surely be receive a copy during one of the many yearly gift giving celebrations around the galaxy!"

Please post your entries, screenshots and any suggestions below and if you find any other interesting systems please post them on Gomisan's Hitchhikers Guide to Beta 3 thread here!

I have filled a few in already including 1 shameless entry from myself!

good luck to all

As of Beta 3 LTT 16979 now only has 5 stations. Groombridge 1618 has 7 at present.
Closest station I have found is Glen Dock in Ross 104 - 5.2Ls (though this obviously changes due to the orbit and your drop from Hyperspace).

Here are the pictures of the system map. I had to split it in four because of the size. :)
