Yeah, The Universal Cartographics site is inactive. It has not been updated for years.
I have asked Frontier and this forum several times to shift the focus to EGO (elitegalaxyonline.com) instead. Unfortunately, exploration always gets close to no attention at all by FDev. Not even the simplest of requests... :(

EDSM records is nice, EGO is however a lot more useful. There are a lot more record types and you also get individual lists, which is useful when hunting specific planet types for reasons only known to you.

Right now I am in the system S171 12 and it has a very old Class "O" main star. I thought it might be a record breaker so I checked the Galactic Book of Records. The Book shows this star as the oldest discovered "O" Class star. Problem is book says it is 827 million years old. Cartographic's now has it at 897 million years old. Is it because time has continued in game since it was first discovered?

Certainly not over 50m years!

No, what happened was there was an error in the Stellar Forge that put the ages of some stars at over 30bn years, which is older than the age of the universe, so there was some...massaging.....of data to bring them back into line, it probably affected other stars as well, that's the most likely explanation.

New Oldest Class "O" star

I could not submit to the Galactic record book because it was not available. I found a new Oldest Class "O: star. It is in system S171 22 and it is 896 million years old.

I can't get images to work yet as I am a noob but if you need more please let me know. I have the screen shot.

But that's only a minor part of what EDSM does.

These are tools you can run along side Elite to automatically upload your data to EDSM and EGO
Assuming you're on a PC. If you're on a console , I'm not aware of any way for console players to contribute at this time.

If you find something interesting and you play on console then it is still worth putting in the galactic mapping thread - they can create a manual entry. Triangulation can be used to get the system location, in lieu of flight logs.

So, with universal cartographics, do i post up here what i find? For someone else to update the ingame map? I assume i have to be first to find whatever it is i mention here, correct? This is so i know for future use is all :)

AFAIK this Universal Cartographics site hasn't been maintained for quite some time now. Can someone confirm this? Last news items on the site are from Dec'2015 / Jan'2016...

Based on that this thread could be retired and interested CMDRs could be pointed to the current http://www.elitegalaxyonline.com for records - or to https://eddb.io for other research.

Thats a shame if it isnt bein maintained now. But still good to know there are other options :)

I managed to get the data linked to EDSM.net, but must be looking in the wrong parts of the docs to find how to sync with other sites.

Same as EDSM - Settings tab, select your commander, click Edit and fill in the bottom section with your EGO log in and API key (from their website) and check the 'Sync to EGO' box. You can leave sync unchecked and do a bulk upload from the Admin menu after you've sold the data if you prefer.
