Are the "pods" producing the purrs? Given that there are 12 "pods" on a UA - are groups of 4 SAP8s each affecting one set of 4 pods. Maybe 12 Sap8s will reduce the purrs to 2. THen we need 2 of something else the reduce the purrs to zero. then???????

So the SAP8s have to be within the blue twinkling cloud for the purrs to be supressed. Hmm.

Looking at that picture...god help me for this but I can thing of no other way to put it; why does that many flanged head belching* it's spores** put me in mind of of the UA?

I'm losing my sanity on this thread, it's like dealing with a Great Old One; you can't win, you can only go mad.

Nooooo! Tell me it's not so! How am I going to ever get any more rep? I have no idea what your ciphertext is other than the last part obviously being Right On Commander, but good luck anyways. Ciphers make my brain hurt. At least do what I am doing, stop playing but keep hanging out here from time to time. If not, all the best.

I think you should eventually try with 12 sap8 now, the pod's number... I'm predicting no purrs at all...

That's great! Did you check to see if only SAP8's cause the change or if any items in that proximity have that effect?

I guess I should say it now but this thought came to me a few days ago that the UA spreads the plague or injects it like a syringe.....here I'll post what I sent in a message to someone when I came up with the idea......however be warned to test it.....it's not good.....:

Hey I had a crazy theory pop into my head...due to some posts on the forums, I think that the UA is like a syringe which fires out the plague virus at high speeds so much so that it can say get through a station and infect someone before it dies or a planet's atmosphere.

How it happens is that when it's jetisioned into space a timer starts which is show by it's health which during that time I think maybe the UA is charging up the 12 pods it has or something like that which then eject the power suddenly into the stork and then the head, one row at a time which is shown by videos of a UA being destroyed or dieing. When all the power or energy from the pods is in the head it has enough to fire the plague at the target the UA's 'hatch' is facing which the 'shots' have plenty of power to break open that hatch or the hatch unlocks due to the power loss.
I also think that the sounds it makes, is maybe saying what it currently is target....or trying to with it's shots.....but I'm kinda.......sketchy about that part the most.....well I am with all of it.

This is just a theory that I wanted to tell you about as the only way to test it is to fire it.....as so far we've found nothing that'll open it.....this theory though....it sounds crazy to me but I can also see it maybe fitting.....since it could be done by the thargoids or some race that's planing an invasion and this UA is simply a way they are weakening us....like we did with the thargoids.

I'm in agreement (as I understand it) with your basic premiss, the purpose of the UA is as carrier for disease. I still maintain that this is not the extended hand of friendship; it's not here for our benefit.

I believe it's purpose is antagonistic, how it achieves that purpose be it by Rat's theory or some other I don't know, but I do think FD are going to blame us for the mutation.

Thing for me is, the UA has a 'mystery', one which can be solved by 'listening' (whatever the hell the Yodas in Cambridge mean by that) and the 'purpose' is not the same as the 'mystery'*.

Oh and yeah, I think the reports of mutation may be a hint from FD that mixing things is not the answer.

*Gods' teeth now I'm starting to sound like an FDev.

UA and 12 SAP8s needed, all somehow positioned carefully "within range" and then give me audio please (assuming something obvious didn't happen first).
