Yeah, My preference would be local to me
But I think Cambridge would be best, on the basis of FD being there, and If the party is held on another night to theirs, someone might just pop along.
Plus if it is a few nights before, well all have chance to get back home and be ready to play when it launches
Could be a good idea. Make it private(ish) and free up some space on the forum.

I would prefer Cambridge as It is about 2.5 hours from Salisbury.
I would agree that holding the ULP on the same date as the OLP is not a good idea. Also, having the ULP on the day after the OLP is not a good idea as we will all be be playing E4!!
I think that FD will know within 6 - 8 weeks of their planned launch date, the date they will announce a "go live" date. I guess most people can be reasonably flexible and can arrange to attend the ULP within that time frame. I seriously doubt that DB will only give a couple of weeks notice to those who are attending the OLP!

I kind of agree - it's one of those situations where you should make an executive decision and choose a place. Hell, I would come over to Blackpool if necessary - we could upset the posh folk in St Anne's ;-)

Any ideas for the fomat and content of the party? There will be a lot of us and most of us won't know each other. It would be nice for some things going on that could break the ice.
One thought is to hire a room with a projector and a screen and have the game available to be played on the big screen. We could also have facilities for people to bring laptops for some network playing of the game.
Another idea is an "Elite Quiz".
With regards to food I think a buffet would be most appropriate. A sit down meal wouldn't seem right to me for a launch party. There has to be a (paid) bar as well.

Argh! I can't join Google+ because it demands your real name and I refuse to trust Google with that. I'll keep an eye on that page though for any further details if that's where the organising of this is going to be.

Yup my mate set it up 2 weeks ago with all the KS tension going on too. He made me admin :s but i'm trying to keep it going, as well as keeping up with the forums and KS.

That's a shame Jedra. We tried to get Micheal and David to do a hangout in the last couple of day's of KS, but due to KS commitments it was a no. However Michaeal did say they'd look at time for one after KS had ended. So i'm going to start pestering again - in a nice way, I know they'll be busy - to get them to do a webcam hangout and give us updates. Might have to have a poll for questions for them to peruse day or so before so they can answer a few.
