Patch Notes Update Update 1.07 Incoming - 11am GMT

I updated my launcher by downloading from the store yesterday, after being told there was an updated one. Upon trying to Update the game, I get this:

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

Ideas on how to fix this?

EDIT: I rolled back to the previous installer, and it now works fine. But this means that the one currently in the store is bugged as hell.

Dumb question...but what exactly is the "death telemetry" they're talking about in the patch update?
Thanks in advance!

In a previous patch notes Michael spoke about player ships exploding inexplicably near stations plus there's the whole "combat logging" thing.

It's always useful for game developers to know how player ships were taken out to rule out random glitches from actual combat or player mistakes like ramming into a station.

Good job on the patch - weekly maintenance awesome.

Question to the Devs : Have you messed around with the black hole graphics, as they no longer are rendering for me :/

god that new jump planner can't get here fast enough. seriously, why does it have to waste so much time plotting in EVERY direction instead of just a cone of of the general direction I'm heading.

You have to plot backwards, because sometimes the route ahead is impossible due to range limits. And it looks like they just bolted route planning on to the existing "where can I get to from here" functionality, so it wasn't a deliberate decision to "plan routes by calculating an expanding sphere". They already had the expanding sphere, which they quickly hacked route planning on to.

I didn't mind daily updates at 11pm. Now my wife keeps complaining that it didn't happen and I'm still playing after 11.

Same Win7Pro 64bit here, updated the launcher yesterday without any problem.

Hello I still (since GAMMA 1.01) have the problem that ONLY ED is somehow throttling of the GPU USAGE of my AMD HD7970M, causing a massive reduction of the FPS especially in warzones and extraction sites when some GFX effects like CHAFF are visible!

A simple test with chaff show the problem (slowing down the GPU USAGE AND FPS to very low UNPLAYABLE values).
This was confirmed by an other user with an HD7970M,
(the HD7070M is a powerfull laptop GPUs with 3DMark score of P7300)

And further info here https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=103775

Hopping that support will sometime take a look into this problem and my ticket......

Hey StefanosA

Do yourself a favour, and get yourself a GTX card. Problem solved.... ;) :)

Great work.. although it's a shame i cant still play the game, due to my game alt-tabbing every 2 secs.. 6 tickets no results! ;(

You may have some software running in the background that is causing a clash. I'm sure you have probably already thought of this but in case you haven't I thought I would mention it.

Keep task manager running in the background and see if anything keeps moving up the list every few seconds and then you may spot the problem.

Hope this helps.

I never understood that line, who would ever confuse those two activities, and secondly, Luke didn't grow plants, he "farmed" water from the air.

More information for us to see how people die. In part to try and diagnose some random deaths.

Michael

I died last night due to canopy breach. I made it to an outpost and got inside OK, but there were no repair facilities, very limited outpost.

On the SC to the next available outpost I was interdicted. I died just seconds from docking at the second outpost.

Surely every facility should have some emergency life-support fix, even if it isn't a full repair?

It was exciting for sure, but I think maybe this could be revisited?

Thanks for the update!
Can you actually play this game on integrated graphics? I'm barely getting 10fps in station with my ATI Mobility 4550 on low and 1024x720.

Me too, my 486 dx2 wont run more than a few frames per second either. Ive ticketed it as i think it's outragous that ED wont run on my machine, after all it's only 20 yrs old.

Michael,
I don't want to hijack the thread, but I just had a quick question and hoped you'd see it if I posted it here:

I don't really care about details, I trust you guys to get it right if you say you want to change it: Do you plan to address really long in-system travel times at some point (binary / multi-star systems), or are you guys happy with the way things are now?

Thanks!

Maybe a bit unrealistic, but as you said, it sounds exciting so they really don't need to change this as I see it. It is avoidable by looking at the system map after all. ;)

It's all very well adding more content but if it's as half baked as the content that's already in the game I just fail to get excited about it.

I'm sure now that the Knights in shining armour will come to defend the fair maiden that is FD.
Its coming, but it's a longer term job. I'll include it in a dev update a bit nearer to its release.

White Knight.

Check.
