Game has now crashed twice in 10 minutes while playing carrer mode. Submitted a crash report. This wasnt happening before this patch.
And hopefully reindeer, wolf and flamingo variations as well, some day.Llama coat variations?
Llama coat variations?
Just for expectations' sake: new coat and pattern variations are not be in this week's update; we are looking into future possibilities to add more variations based on the discussion in this thread, but this will need some dev time.
Quick sidenote: pattern variations (Zebras, Giraffes, etc.) are in-game, they are based on genetics. Just like in real life, a juvenile will take patterns from its parents; if you've bred large herds, this could mean some repetitive patterns. We do want to look into adding more pattern variation; this would be a matter of our code team making a few changes so that there will be more individual patterns visible. We understand from the feedback here that this will make the game even more enjoyable, so that's something we're happy to look into.
Coat variations will also be addressed; this is a bigger change (as there's quite a few animals) so this will take time, but we hope that will make the animals feel more individualistic and realistic!
We will likely make these changes in a batch (so multiple animals at once), which might delay the date we're able to implement that into the game based on workload and team availability. Please let this be the clear answer that we have taken this feedback to heart!
I bookmarked the comment, this was the original post in the coat variations discussion.
We'd all like coat variations. I don't think comments like "Llama coat variations?" are that helpful. (Really don't think a DLC animal will be among the first ones)
I think "looking into possibilities/coat variations will be addressed" is a good answer to this.
Some people said it's an easy job to do. Really depends on the feature.
Adding 4 different colours (and just only that) could be relatively easier.
But having pattern regions to also set up future variations for other animals, could be a big effort.
I play Ark Survival Evolved and the colour schemes are very diverse.
Just an example how this works for their wolf (only have to scroll down a bit and the red colour designates the region)
https://ark.gamepedia.com/Direwolf
The wolf has only 3 regions but other animals have all 6 regions with variations.
Atm, I think the crashes should be big concern for this moment. ChicagoZohan mentioned it a couple of times but on different platforms seen multiple comments about this as well. (Don't experience these crashes myself but the game does feel more sluggish after the last 2 updates)
it was confirmed in the livestreams before the game was released, that this would be in the gameThey aren't working on it.
They are "looking into the possibilities", which is not the same.
People are really expecting it, while nothing is confirmed as actually coming to the game.

Yup, the coat variations update is still coming, however it's a big job so as stated before it'll take a few months as we want to do a big batch rather than smaller iterations.
Will it affect even already existing animals? Is actually possible to change the colors of animal we aready have in the game? That would be cool
Coat variations were teased in base game before launch but not in it. We showed patience. They said it will take time. We showed patience. They recieved feedback, than added an animal with HUGE coat variation in RL in a paid DLC and it only comes in white. Seriously, I don't get why they don't tackle feedback in paid content first. If they wouldn't want color variations, the Guanaco would have been an alternative for the Llama.
Ah well, we know you and I disagree on what was teased in the content before launch and had a long discussion about it, if it was teased or now. We won't find a base on this topic. It's fine that we disagre and in my opinion no need to exaggerate what players with an interest in realism and variety want. Plus, as I said, with the llamas there would have been a pretty good work-around without making the missing feature even more obvious. Adding only one color / white Lamas was giving fuel to the fire. It's pretty easy. Yes, they teased it. But they thought, hmm this few variations we now have should be enough.
Nobody at Frontier expected high demanding customers that want 1.000.000 variations.

This actually just says why the Llama's have no variations. It'll come all in one patch. The coat variations update is still coming, however it's a big job so as stated before it'll take a few months as we want to do a big batch rather than smaller iterations.
