Actually logged on the first time in a week just to see the inside of my FC. Should have known. Well, maybe next quarter.

The truly great thing is that, you, the consumer, have the choice to play whatever you wish! Perhaps other entertainment software might offer an alternative to ED, it is the individual's choice which determines their course.

If you are losing the will, why continue?

As for it being an age thing, in RL I know other people younger than me who come across as older, that is a strange thing. ;)

I'm waiting to see what Elite does in the coming update, but SC has never appealed to me.
I don't have much faith in a game that has:
  • Started development at the same tine as elite;
  • Is still in Alpha or Beta build;
  • Needs more resources (PC wise) then Elite;
  • Is full of Payed content (Ships), so you can be ganked by someone who has bought a ship with IRL currency;
  • SC has nowhere near the galaxy size that elite does and i like to explore and mine resources.
And since i play multiple games i have the patience to see where FD's effort lead us.

I am playing both games and fully disagree with your comments on SC. Apart of the fact that it is alpha everything else is just not right. Both games are good and worth the money, bringing enough entertainment for what they cost. They are different. ED is vast but empty. SC is small but immersive. Space immersion - SC. Space exploration - ED. Great gameplays cenarios and loops - Neither.

If my preferred brand of Ice Cream has a "new improved" recipe, that I don't like, I would indeed move on. If my choice of football team is losing every match, I would not move on. I guess for many people Elite is closer to a football club than a frozen dessert, and will continue to get our support through the bad times - no matter how frustrating that is.

Also, in regards to alternatives, maybe when SC has burned through another $400m, it will be worth more of my time.

Indeed, but the individual makes their choice, at a point in time that is unique to that individual.
