Update 14 and Beyond: Live and Legacy Modes

Whilst there will be no new narrative content such as GalNet or Community Goals, you will still be able to affect the galaxy via the background simulation. Actions in Legacy Mode will not affect the Live game.

I assume this also includes Powerplay?

Yep - includes the lot! Entirely separate from Live Mode.

Thanks Bruce. Makes sense to me, and nice that you're keeping the old client around instead of killing it entirely. Also good to see that Odyssey players can launch Horizons 4.0 officially now. Looking forward to find out what else is coming in update 14.

Feel free to correct or elaborate, but I take it you mean "Why have a Legacy Mode?". Not everyone wants or is able to play on version 4.0, and we'd like to offer an ongoing option for those players.

Glad to finally be moving forward. And I think it's a good idea to let 3.8 be a self contained thing, so that folks who want to keep the familiar pre-Odyssey version of the game can have it and no longer be impacted by Odyssey.

More importantly for me though, glad to see us finally moving forward.

Also I'd suspect that just spinning off another server for 3.8 was deemed easier than keeping the 3.8 client and Odyssey-era servers compatible with eachother.
