Update 17 Release Notes

Interesting . . . might be coincidence, but the patch seems to have an (unintended?) side effect on those missions where you are supposed to off a pirate, then told to go to another system to meet an informant (snitch) . . . before the patch, they used to buzz around me several times before (finally!) dropping out of supercruise.

I applied the patch and played two such missions today, requiring me to follow such a sni-- INFORMANT, sorry, which were pleasantly different -- in each case, the songbird dropped almost IMMEDIATELY. Okay, in one case, so close to the sun that I did not wish to meet him there, but hey, it's the SPIRIT that counts (and I sent him a family tub of burn cream -- fair's fair.)

Before the last update when these missions became almost unbearable, informants would not-infrequently drop VERY close to the star.
If informants are now no longer spending unending amounts of time flying circles behind us in supercruise before finally dropping, I will be very much happier. I can hurry away from the star to minimize this occurrence. Will see.

Hilarious remark about the family-size burn cream! :D
SPF 10,000,000?

When in the mission board, select a mission category (I was doing transportation missions when I found this), and accept a mission, it should send you back to the category selection, rather than the mission list.
I can offer a little more info regarding this. I experienced similar behavior. By chance, I had also selected the "transportation" missions category. I viewed and accepted 5 black box salvage ops, all exhibited this behavior, returning me two steps ( to the list of mission categories) after accepting, rather than the expected one step showing the list of missions in the currently-selected category.

A couple of notes:
If I did not accept a mission, clicking "back" returned me the expected one step.
I also accepted one courier job after taking the 5 black box ops. Curiously, this returned me the expected one step. *

btw: My experience downloading and updating went without issue. I'm certain that I'm a later-past moment-of-release updater, but no hitches with that process, or of getting in-game right afterward.

...My thanks also to the community and the Dev team for all of the work.

* EDIT: Well, on my second round of missions, I accepted two courier jobs. Both took me back two steps, so not sure why it didn't do that earlier. Simplifies things, actually.

The emergency atmosphere control console, which is located on the roof of the building, no longer appears turned on when there is power in the settlement. This is an example of a mining settlement that I have been to before and everything worked. Of the 5 consoles in the settlement, 2 are not displayed as turned on, but you can interact with them.

So, did we get that 32 button limit fix on HOTAS or not this time?
Not having a HOTAS that is affected by that limit I am not in a position to check it but as it was not mentioned in the OP and bearing in mind the caveats that were there about unlisted items I am sure the answer is no.

Downloaded this afternoon, had a few transport and exploration missions with no obvious problems. It even seems to generate a little less processor heat. Great !
Greetings Sally and devs.

That is a microsoft issue, not an E:D issue.
That being said, the virpil software has an option to break up the controllers into 32 button segments. My hotas is something like 5 devices in windows.
It does make it hard to remember which Joy 3 button it is talking about when you haven't played in a while.

it's definitely an elite thing. direct input has supported over a hundred buttons for over a couple decades. direct input dijoystate2's interface allows for 128 buttons and 6 axis per device and it's been part of the standard since before dx8.
