Would’ve been nice to have this information earlier, so I could do the test properly. I suggest opening a bug report in the issues tracker. Post a link on this thread.
Can’t say that I’ve noticed anything, but I still have a fairly beefy rig.Has anyone else had any performance issues since update 18.01?
It's now basically flatlining my CPU utilisation at 100% and causing all sorts of issues that are seriously affecting my ability to play the game.
No worries. 250MB didn't seem that 2small", seemed to take blummin' ages even though my broadband is ten times faster than it used to be. I'll put off doing it for my alts.
Just a followup, but since I had a little time during breakfast, I decided to skip the usual perusal of the increasingly alarming morning news, and see if I could replicate the appropriate conditions:

Finally, since there was a world I wanted to search for biological life anyways, I made sure the planet was between me and the primary star:
It's noticable this time. I think it might be an artefact of artificial brightening in the 3rd person camera. You might also have to be near the star as well for maximum effect, and this world is fairly far out, which is why I noticed the artificial brightening in the first place. The world was much brighter lit in the 3rd person camera, compared to my cockpit view.
It looks like this is one of those "Hop on one foot at 3:57am on a picnic table" type of bugs: it's not likely to happen during normal gameplay, so it's probably going to be fairly low on Frontier's priority list. Still, if you submit it, post the link, and I'll be happy to contribute.
After all, I already did the work.

Do as @Darkfyre99 said in the post before yours, create an issue on the issue tracker then post a link here so people can find the right issue easily, they can then confirm and later vote on the issue all of which should bring it to the attention of the right bit of FDev.
I rarely use shuttles in the game, but I noticed that after the latest updates, the shuttle pilot’s holographic display panel disappeared; now he apparently controls the ship with the help of his super vision and super hearing.
I also noticed that after the latest patches, NPCs in settlements have lost their facial conversation animation (lip synch) when they pronounce their phrases.
It’s a pity that every patch adds new errors, and given the super events with the Titans, it’s unlikely that they’ll fix it...

That has been coming and going at random for a long time. Even the NPCs in the concourse lose their facial animations as you move further away from them, even though you can still hear their words very clearly.
I have tried 8 times now to join the Leigong fight since the update and every single instance has been bugged with the vents stuck open.
If your core-ection lasts for more than 4hrs, please seek medical treatment immediately.
That was my experience yesterday, I feel your pain. Today after a couple of failed attempts I got a good un, it's a bit hit and miss.

Fired up the PC 30 minutes ago to play for half an hour, to find there's an update, but it's not loading.
Updated to v18 beginning of last week (had not played since last September) & same happened then- had to do a complete uninstall and reload, took well over 2 hours. Played a few hours last Wednesday...now???
Ive stopped the virus scan and anything else running. Launcher just sits telling me "preparing for update" with 0% complete...any thoughts?

Takes a while, most people find it eventually completes but you could try changing the settings in the game launcher options part and see if any of that helps.

any suggested settings? Looking at the options there & four boxes are all checked
Well no, I have never needed to do it, I just go away for a while and when I come back it's either working or done, but people have reported changing these settings work in the past, just try unchecking them all and see what happens I guess, you can always go in and recheck them all afterwards of it doesn't, or indeed does, work.
its been 10 minutes...Ive stopped the loader task & will try unchecking the options!

I think FD really ought to fix the launcher problems-just been googling and problems have been reported for years!
