Then if your goal is to get the special mod you want, you should work for it.

That's the problem though, it feels like work, not fun gameplay, I don't come back from a day at work in order to work for a second time just to earn stuff in a game, I want to do fun compelling and challenging gameplay in order to achieve those goals, not just repetitive tasks for hours in the hope of getting what I need.

No one is forcing you to bumble around aimlessly just "playing the game" and seeing what you come across. Some of us play with clear goals.

The kind of comment we've all come to expect. You, wrongly, assume that because we do not force ourselves to grind away to have something as soon as possible, that we do not have clear goals.

I don't mind working for something. Happy to work for it. Unfortunately we can't do that.

You are confusing "slotting coins into a slot machine and getting a random result" with "working for something".

You're saying you want to choose your upgrades that costs rep to get that specific mod. Consider favours another currency

Fantastic!

Now can you please add System Security Level to the Galaxy Map, so we can all see it, without needing to do the merry dance...

- Select System
- Select System Map
- Wait 5-10 seconds for it to load

Actually, nobody does this, because it's unusable that way. ;)

So very few people are aware of Security Level topology as they travel about the galaxy.

It would be great if they could see it. Please!

^^ This! System Security Level is very important information now, it should be clearly visible on the galaxy map. Also, I would not mind if my ship warned me when I enter low sec systems, maybe a HUD element or a voice message would be perfect ..

A lot of people that were complaining are already pleased and said it (me included), but yea there will always be a few left no matter what.

My point exactly. The fixes are coming and a lot of players are very happy. Some of them may even have complained in a previous patch not thread about the lack of progress on their pet bug.

But the fixes are coming thick and fast at the moment and I, for one, am totally in awe at how they are cracking out the updates as well as working on the next 2 possibly 3 releases.

You don't have to do those tasks. I have fun just playing the game.

Players in World of Warcraft would spend literally years running 16 player Raids trying to complete their Armour sets. Engineers has not even been out 2 months.

Also, I enjoy bumbling around while achieving aims. I play the game, do a little mining and trading with friends, go and attack a random base, head over to a conflict zone or res site and the drop in on the occasional USS which catches my eye. Low and behold I have enough materials to craft some upgrades.

Exactly. Tbh I'm not convinced we should even be able to pick our special effects. To me it throws the whole thing out of whack.

No one is forcing anyone to use reputation to get something you desire. If you desire something, you should work for it.

Please stop, Ive spent days working on engineers, Ive tested everything, and youre completley wrong and insane.ROLLING 100 OVERCHARGED RANK 5 MODS TO MAYBE GET 1 INCENDIARY AMMO MULTICANNON IS NOT WORK ITS INSANITY.

The 10% reduced rate of fire of incendiary rounds implies also a 10% reduction in damage per second, right?

Yeah exactly.. Especially when you hop into a smaller ship, trading ship, miner or whatever to do something else. What does it help me then that Im Elite? Also it doesnt create a very believable universe...

Totally agree. I'm triple elite. Every NPC that interdicts me is still going to be elite, in a ship that is fitted for combat, when I am in my T9. My combat rank is meaningless if I am not in my fighter. I will run when outclassed by a fighting ship, but where is the fun in that. My time is valuable and I don't want to lose my engineer commodities. The universe is not believable any more. I thought elite rank was reserved for the top gun NPC's, and in percentage terms they would be few and far between.

I am fed up with the RNG with materials and engineer mods. If you can change the interdicting NPC rng to all elite for me, then remove the rng from the engineer mods, and just keep it for finding materials and data.

I look forward to trying 2.0.3, but reading the update list I am not impressed.

Base assaults are...impossible solo. I stopped bothering. This part of ED is...a polly-gone (pun intended)
So the only reason to land on a planet is to look for rocks. With that said...my motivation to even bother with that is evaporating fast.

I'm beginning to wonder if the other game developers of that other kick-starter space sim game are looking at all the mistakes Frontier are making with a keen eye. And I am looking at their game now...with an even keener eye.

And when I do quit ED...and put my efforts into another game...that's it for ED as far as I am concerned. I want time invested to bring the rewards. If there are no rewards...that will always be in my mind when I consider it. I get that sour feeling in my stomach when I look at the ED launch icon now. Its the same with WOW. Eight years played. And I get physically sick at the thought of loading it and getting into it again. All the bad memories of why I quit WOW just flood back and I get depressed.

We all have these hopes and dreams. How sad it is...that you have to wake up to reality. And you can never remember a good dream. What a bummer!

To me the only problem in base assoult is the impossibility to target ground enemy from the ship.
If they'll bring back this opportunity, they'll make me able to destroy skimmers and turrets fromn my shine ships with engineers upgrades, I'll be back to do those missions.

Really, everything that's wrong with the engineers update will be solved with three things:
1 - Target ground enemies from ship
2 - Materials market at engineers bases
3 - Engineers accept credits instead of commodities.

Baaaam, no more need to grind (you can buy materials), no more need of cargo space (you can use credits), no more need wings to base assault (you can do all with your ship).

Ships

- All shields now regenerate at double rate when in supercruise

That's good, but how about making it x4 and adding a Hull repair module like the good old days.[haha]

Having an active shield now statically prevents 25% of the heat from getting through

Ah! ..and he's me thinking they where just a ring of pretty lights :)...........why its so hot in here..

Some great work has been done in this patch, some really welcome bugfixes, but without some word from the devs on their intentions with regards to making engineers gameplay more compelling and less frustrating I personally will not be returning, and based on OA's video yesterday and the response to it, I doubt I'm alone.

All seems fine to me, I think the Engineers all work really well. Progression could be faster, but I'm in no rush to get anywhere and none of the things being offered will drastically change the game. So with that in mind, progression could also be slower. I'd prefer their development focus be elsewhere so with respect, regardless of you not "being alone", your veiled doomsaying is as tiresomely delivered as the in-your-face predictions of doom that litter the forums after a patch drops.

I've been largely ignoring the Engineers save for material collection - hasn't effected the rest of my game one iota. If you truly think that you have quit playing because of this change, I've got news for you, the entire game is no longer fun for you. There is more to the game than the Engineers.

YOU DONT NEED TO WRITE IN CAPITALS TO GET YOUR POINT ACROSS.

They've nerfed incendiary anyway lol. You're all looking at the engineers and special effects in the wrong way. If you view the effects as a bonus to the improved stats, you won't be disappointed constantly by not getting the mod you want.
