For the record I don't like spawned NPC ranks being tied to your combat rank. It should be determined by where you are and the ship you're flying and the circumstances of the situation. It's dumb for a new player to never encounter Deadly+ NPCs, and it's dumb for a longtime player to *only* see Deadly+ NPCs. Higher ranked ships should be rarer, period. In more dangerous *areas* they should be more common. Tying NPC rank to player rank is yet another way of making every place in the galaxy feel and behave the same way. This is the #1 complaint about the game - that the vastness of the play area is wasted because everything looks, sounds, feels, and acts the same. There are high-security areas and low-security areas and anarchy areas and various levels of economic and political turmoil for a reason. USE THEM.
Of all the things to complain about.. I happen to like it![]()
Worst thing about 2.1.0.3 ? Is that this ugly, aesthetically displeasing, unecessary eyesore still exists.

First thing I thought when I saw this is "Why name stations when its blacked out with this ginormous box?"100% with you man. That black line is just fugly.
- Fixed softlock when quickly selecting refuel/repair/restock after opening station services
Same here. Was interdicted by an elite python. Killed me in under thirty seconds. Absolutely ridiculous. I grind nearly 200 hours in this game, and I get killed off by a random NPC in seconds?nothing change in IA , i got itercepted by an federal dropship he took me dawn with his plasma accelerator and modified burst lasers in 20 second , i have a python Class B and i couldn't touch him with his tourning , so nothing change really
Thank you FD for the patch and a great game! Let me repeat this for the other players, thank you!. It is nice to play a game that the developer is passionate about, listens to its player base and is constantly trying to introduce ways to improve the game. All for a reasonable price.
What surprises me most when I read the forums is the level of complaints about relatively minor issues affecting game play. Everyone, this is a complex sandbox game with players having different objectives. It is also a difficult game to play well. But that is because it is meant to be - you are in space. Too often I read a complaint where it is obvious that the player is simply become frustrated because he or she has not mastered the mechanics of the game in some respects or it is moving too slow. Docking is a classic - why would you take up a module slot with a docking computer? With practice docking is a snap and not the least bit inconvenient. Really!
I can talk from personal experience. For sometime my objective was shadow missions to get the credits for any ship in the game I wanted. Sure, I didn't have a great ship and there was some grinding involved in the beginning, but it wasn't long before I worked out that I needed to get out of the bubble and form an alliance with some factions to pull good missions. This also meant that I could upgrade my ship to A rate the modules that a smuggler needs - good thrusters, power distributor, frameshift drive and cargo space. In the end I was getting missions for 3+ million in a Asp. I not talking exploits - just common sense and working out what I needed to do.
So what is my point you ask? The game may not be perfect, but it is fun and rewarding if you put some yards in. Its a space sim, not an arcade game. You do need to make decisions about what you want to do and have a strategy to get it. The game will not lead you to it. If there is a an aspect of the game essential to your objective and you are having difficulty with, then practice it and look for a workarounds (YouTube has 100's of helpful videos). It's satisfying when you find the solution, if the first, share it with others. But remember, it is just a game and is meant to be fun. Don't get in lather if you loose your Python. You had insurance right?
So honestly, the takeaway is enjoy the game and, by all means, help FD develop the game with constructive feedback and information, but (please) don't criticise every little detail or inconvenience or have a shot at FD because you have had a nasty experience with an NPC. Try anger management classes instead.
Got on for less than five minutes, doing simple one-jump data transport missions in my Python, which is rigged for transport and travel.
Not five seconds after making my jump, I'm interdicted by a pirate. I can't tell what it is.
Submit to interdiction, scan my interdictor--It's an ELITE PYTHON.
I try to boost. NO BOOST.
I had set my Python with a Class 4-A power distributor, which only yesterday worked perfectly.
NOT ANYMORE. Was killed in under thirty seconds. Police warped in, but were utterly useless as always,
as they fumble around and try to figure out who is the bad guy.
I'm so infuriated with this game. Every single time they patch it, I have high hopes and I'm crushed every single time.
What am I supposed to do? Quit constantly to avoid interdiction? Break the game by accepting thirty missions at once,
just so that I can make a decent wage? This game isn't even fun anymore. Every single one of my real life friends have stopped playing,
and I'm very close to quitting forever.
If they'll refund me for my last death, I'll give it another shot, but this is seriously ridiculous.
Call me a noob, call me a scrub, but I want Elite: Dangerous to be FUN. I want it to be a hardcore space simulator, but
there must be balance. Even with my python maxed for battle, I can hardly even beat a damned dropship, which used to be a cakewalk.
And then once I do kill an enemy, I make what? 100,000 credits? Enough to repair myself ONCE? GREAT.
I apologize for being angry on the internet, but this is not what I wanted after a stressful day of work.
tl:dr;
If you're wanting Elite to finally be patched and work right, you might as well give the devs another year to work it out.
Maybe ten years. Depends on how much time they waste on powerplay and other garbage that just contributes more nothingness to the game.
