Console gaming has its place and there is nothing wrong with that. It isn't a place I'd like to be, though sometimes I envy it.

Either way, we don't need a PC vs console war.

There are reasons why FDev pushed this update before waiting until they could release it on Xbox...I don't know those reasons but I doubt they are nefarious or careless.

As I see it, the issue was either have Xbox players suffer or have all players suffer. Since they can't do anything for Xbox until Microsoft deigns to approve upgrade from their high throne in the cloud, at least reduce damage for most people. Seems right to me.

Let's not delve into the Console vs PC debate, those end up in a molten-salt meltdown battle royales that generally don't go anywhere good! Thanks. :p

Some folks have both. :)

So here I am, with a serious face, reading through these patch notes, looking forward to what lies ahead for the coming Xbox update (plus cheering for the server side ones that we're already getting), and I read the patch note about farming salt... BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!

Excellent job there, Brett!

Is "salty" meant to be some kind of 'old sea dog' reference?

I can't help thinking of Veruca!

Honestly, I don't have an upfront answer to this right now.

All I can say in speculation is: Sometimes delays can be due to compile/run-time issues in-house, or issues from remote certification at another company.

@Brett, Nothing of fixing the Exquisite Focus Crystal mission reward issue and all other vary rare materials mission rewards issue? EFC and BC's are mission only items, all others can be found elsewhere so its not that bad. But EFC's are needed in 2 essential upgrades and they are non-existent. Can you just make them spawn from ships until you remedy this issue please. It took you guys like 6 months to fix it last time and when I came back to the game in 2.3, I read it was fixed, but found out that 2.3 broke it again. I missed my G5 Charge Enhanced by 1 day! 1 DAY DAMMIT!!! lol

As an update, we're looking at an additional 15 minutes of downtime while our QA team does additional checks. Thanks for your patience.

Will this update be further updated and if so can you give us an approximate time for the forthcoming update and will the updated update be rolled out at the same time for Xbox? Popcorn for sale , get it while its hot.

One doesn't have to look any further than this page to know that you guys really don't care about clamping down on the PC-master-race guys.

And you don't exactly help the situation when you release patches like this.

I don't think the update has been pushed to Steam yet, could be part of the issue. [where is it]

In the past I would just use the FD Launcher to download point updates after the major release, but this proved to be a problem over the long haul. My steam account didn't like me upgrading the game outside of the Steam client and until I re-ran the Validate Local Files routine and let Steam sort things out, any time I launched Steam for my other games it started to download updates for ED. These updates would fail at the very end and then corrupt my game making it impossible to launch using Frontier's stand alone version of the launcher.

So now... I always let Steam handle ED updates, even though I still prefer to launch the game outside of Steam using the FDEV version of the ED Launcher.

As of this post... There is still no updates available for ED on Steam. Despite getting the "Client Too Old" message, and also seeing the server status on the ED Launcher listed as "UPGRADING".

Proven 4k 60FPS, with power to spare..

Try that on a 500/600 bucks PC... That is a reason why i game on a console.. and i like to game with my feet up. Behind a 56inch UHD tv...

Consoles inferior got nothing to do with this.. and its a really, really silly comment..

EDIT:

Forbes, DF, and Eurogamer are know to be pro PS4 and PC.. Just to put this into context.

I'm not a console person, but I gotta agree you can't match them for value for money and space, looking at one of the PC pictues (reminder - must get me some more monitors :))

I love how y people have gotten over bugs present in release of the 2.3 update. First they complained that there wasn't enough content and grew inpatient waiting for 2.3. Now that the release is out, people can't be happy they got a patch and instead complain that their release wasn't perfect. Generally, being twits. Apparently there's a "naval officer" acting like whatever he does is exactly like building a game world. They're probably that one ensign nobody can stand. The rest of you probably can't read computer language yet think you know better than the guys that have been doing this for years.

The dipsh*ts complaining about bugs have no idea the amount of work that goes into this. I've taken coding classes in college, and I've seen first hand how bugs can happen at total random, or because some obscure conditions were met that caused the bug. One change can affect something elsewhere and it can get through the cracks. But no, keep talking smack to a group of developers that came to the space sim community and asked to kickstart this project out of love and devotion to the original games. I get the feeling Dangerous is what Braben had originally envisioned but was limited by the hardware of the time.

They didn't have to do any of this, you stupid jackasses. We could NOT have a space sim more functional than that five year mess that shall not be named here. You could NOT have something to complain about like a child throwing a tantrum because your iPhone wasn't the right color.

how the hell do you get away with that sort of language on here man
and i must say it's a bit of a directed insult
