Update 9.01 - Patch Notes

Update: Fire Groups sort of works. You can create new groups and you can delete new groups. HOWEVER, what you can't do is delete existing groups pre U9. My setup on my Python is that pre U9 A to E was filled in then it all went blank. Now I can create F and delete F BUT cannot delete A to E.

This is a kind of bummer...
Let's hope they find out the causes of this misbehavior - I really don't want to fly out there and not knowing if I can use and/or change my firegroups in the black. Much more important than having wight issues fixed on the multi limpet controllers (in my eyes).

  • An issue preventing Commanders from restocking ammo for the Scorpion SRV after being destroyed was fixed.
So... uh, did you fix the problem with the missile launcher on the Scorpion NEVER being restocked with ammo? The main gun rearms and the SRV is refueled whenever I dock my ship (as one would expect), but the missile launcher is never reloaded. Ever.

Was this fixed as well? Or should I self destruct my scorpions to get the missiles reloaded? lol
 
Yeah, I thought so too when I discovered this last week...I've found that flying about 50m off the ground is about the easiest way to find things...as long as the surface content of the body stays around long enough to see it...in my experience, it blips in and out of visibility as I fly around...

EDIT: Oh and mine were already bound to "Q" and "E".
Nothing to do with the post. However, I would say our Avatars are from the same Gene pool. Yes?

I not able to change any fire group at all, only in some ships which have weapons but I'm an explorer and without weapons I can't create new fire grups or edit/delete the "empty" groups to use any scanners and sensors. Let's hope they can fix it before xmas! Fingers crossed here!

But do you guys know how unpleasant is to have an expedition of 180 exobiologists, with some of them stuck in planets with lots of signals, not being able to scan?

I'm rarely one of the ones who moan, but I feel as if I have to say this. Can you imagine the absolute avalanche of salt that would rain down if, for instance, any of the rifles or pistols in the game randomly refused to fire at certain enemies? And then FDev said, "Yeah we know, but no news as of yet?" Can you imagine the pew pew crowd's reaction?

I understand that stability is King, but man if this doesn't chap me arx. Literally one of the main "occupations" in the game is now borked and seemingly no fix until 2022. Let's hope there's a 9.02 before then.
 
In a way, it works for me too. Do you also have empty groups, and if so, how many? Or in other words: If you empty a group, does it still remain as an empty group? In my Cobra I have 8 groups that all remain, regardless of whether they are assigned or empty. I can do this back and forth.
EDH on PS5: pre U9 I had A to E filled. After U9 A to E were all blank. After U901 I filled A to E as it was, then erased E but it remained blank instead of disappearing as it should do. I refilled E as it was, filled in F then deleted F and F disappeared as it should. Then I deleted the E entry but E did not disappear it stayed blank. It looks as if the program cannot erase your pre U9 entries but can erase your NEW 901 entries. Restarts no not work. Hope this is clear.
 
Does the fix for the Scorpion include it not getting the missles restocked?
When I land my ship the gatling gets restocked, but the missles stay untouched.
 
Yeah, the game uses ?? as a placeholder if you don't have an action bound to a button, and it's really confusing. When Update 8 released I wondered how the hell I was supposed to respond to "SWITCH TO EMOTES??" on the item wheel...
It'd be nice if they changed it to something more helpful.
I've been seeing "PRESS ??? TO DISENGAGE" (or whatever it actually says) since Ody launch. No amount of binding, unbinding or rebinding "K" will get rid of the "???", so far, but its been several months since I tried...
 
No news as such, but we are aware of this issue.
I was a bit disapointed not to see it even mentioned in the known issues list.

I've been running some stats on the Canonn plugin comparing this Saturday with the Saturday 30 days ago and I'm seeing a big drop off across the board affecting multiple species.

Just Canonn database users alone there are around 400 players per month performing organic scans and I'm sure you have your own data.

I'm presuming its going to be at least a week until this is fixed so I guess we will have to extend the deadline for our Organic Scanning competition.
 
So, every patch now seems to remove fire groups. U9, removed my XBSX EDH fire groups, reset one ship after reading forum posts - waiting on fix to rebuild fleet of 42 additional ships. U9.01 - removed fire groups again. Relogged to check if they disappear on each relog - still there as set after 9.01 update. Really sad, but doing better than most: not even going to load/play PC EDO atm - PC EDH fire groups not checked yet but expect same result.

Good question, unless you're talking asking about the number of items per fire group.

There's probably be a limit to the number of fire groups one can have...

Absolutely, I can. I've even seen it. Actually all rifles or pistols don't work for a lot of players currently. Neither do their legs.

@Rubbernuke Hey, you remember when there was the issue in powerplay where one of the power's would start a CZ and all the npcs spawned with no weapons making them hilariously easy to beat and how much that mattered to everyone because of the long standing effects it will have on the persistent state of powerplay and so that's why Fdev dropped everything and fixed it over a month later?

Yea, something tells me scanning non-interactive plants by staring at them is a bit less of a problem than ruining powerplay for an entire power years ago when it was still something anyone actually cared about. the 180+ people shouldn't hold your breath.
 
Ah, I probably misunderstood the question then. I thought the question was how many fire groups can you have. The number of entries still seems dynamically, depending on what devices are installed on your ship. The new multi limpet controller add 2 more entries for instance, one for collector and one for prospector.
I think you understood well. I was clarifying between

... the number of items per fire group.

and

... the number of fire groups ...

because I think that

...how many entries can you have in Fire Groups?

could be construed either way, I guess...
