Update 9.01 - Patch Notes

Known Issues

The above fixes are designed to address the bulk of stability-related issues that arose following Update 9. We’re aware of other issues and are currently planning how to address them. They include but are not limited to:

  • Hostile ships not being correctly marked on the radar
  • Some deceased NPCs cannot be scanned or analysed
  • “Floating” Guardian Materials at Guardian Sites
  • The on-foot tutorial not completing
  • Multi Limpet controllers having more mass than Commanders expected
  • The Scorpion SRV is affected by texture issues around the chassis

The team is continuing to work hard on investigating issues and implementing fixes. As always, thank you all for your feedback and issue reports.

Bang out of order, this is so not right. What the hell do you think you're playing at? I'm gonna request a full investigation. I came here for Sally and I get Bruce, unacceptable. Bruce, what have you done with Sally? Only joking, thanks for the update

It's not ungrateful! That's still being determined while we talk about the fixes we'd like to do and work out what's possible according to our resources between now and Xmas.
Bruce, I would hope very much that the issue of hostiles not being identified properly on scanners, and the according behaviour that ship launched fighters don't work autonomously to defend the motherships any more, is an issue of such detriment to gameplay that it would have been fixed in this hotfix. That such a game breaking issue would not be fixed for another month, and is not of such importance to demand a hotfix, is frankly inconcievable. This really does need to be addressed as a matter of significant priority.

"Hostile ships not being correctly marked on the radar"
I didn't care about the fire groups. This is more annoying then most of what ever was fixed in this small patch. Our Ai fighters can shoot enemies without taking aggro need to be addressed. Defend, the Ai fighter doesn't care you are being attacked. Probably because enemies aren't red.
Same, but my Guardian fighters are STILL only carrying 1 round of ammo every time they deploy so...

Good stuff as always. I do very much look forward to seeing the exobiology fixed but with what days these are I understand if you gotta push it back a bit. Forgive our desperate pleas for more, they come from a place of love for the game and everything you guys do for us! I hope you have a great holiday because you've really earned it lately!

Not saying that it isn't broken, but I've always found Defend to be the worst setting for the SLF (at least in my experience it was the fastest way to get the pop up that your fighter has been destroyed). You can still order around the SLF with the other hotkeys as usual.

Aw... Was really hoping for a fix for the wingmate ships not turning red - it is going to be really annoying to have that for the entire holidays.

But real thanks for what was able to be done. It is also interesting to hear that the weight of the multi limpet controllers is an issue.

I agree that the targeting problem should be really high priority. It breaks not only turrets on autofire and SLFs, but it's also hard to target enemies when fighting wings, and you are taking aggro from multiple ships in a busy place. I also have an assassinate deserters mission (taken by mistake), and when I start firing at the target it just sits there and takes it. If it's not fixed fast, I suppose I'll have to try CZs and hope that the combat isn't broken.

Otherwise I suppose I'll have to go trading and aim for Elite in trading.

Still having combat so broken in EDO for several weeks seems like a bad idea.. Is targeting broken in EDH too?

<snip for brevity>
Thanks for your effort, guys!
Please add me to the list of commanders who would really like to see a fix for the bio scanning issue. From what I have found, the issue seems to be specifically related to any bios which are "2d" as opposed to "3d". That is, if you (a commander) could either drive over it in an SRV or walk over it on foot (basically, there's no hitbox for the biological), then you can scan it without issue. Thus most of the cactoida, tubus, fungoida, and similar can be scanned, but frutexa (grass, can be driven over), tussock (also grass, can also be driven over), and bacterium (flat "sticker" applied to surfaces, and thus can be driven over) cannot be scanned. A notable exception to my generalization, above, is Stratum. While Stratum can be driven or walked on/over, it DOES have a hitbox and therefore can be scanned.
