Update 9.01 - Patch Notes

Hostile ships not being correctly marked on the radar

This to me is urgent as I am not very good at combat only competent and trying to improve. Almost impossible in heavy combat when you have no idea who is shooting at you.
Cant really risk combat till this is fixed

Greetings Commanders!

  • A crash while encountering Guardian Sentinels at Guardian Sites was fixed.
  • A stability issues caused when opening the Orrery View in the System Map was fixed.
  • An issue preventing Commanders from restocking ammo for the Scorpion SRV after being destroyed was fixed.
  • An issue affected textures on the Scorpion turret (while being used) was fixed.

Known Issues

The above fixes are designed to address the bulk of stability-related issues that arose following Update 9. We’re aware of other issues and are currently planning how to address them. They include but are not limited to:

  • Hostile ships not being correctly marked on the radar
  • Some deceased NPCs cannot be scanned or analysed
  • “Floating” Guardian Materials at Guardian Sites
  • The on-foot tutorial not completing
  • Multi Limpet controllers having more mass than Commanders expected
  • The Scorpion SRV is affected by texture issues around the chassis

The team is continuing to work hard on investigating issues and implementing fixes. As always, thank you all for your feedback and issue reports.

I deeply apologize for bothering and I know people ping you all the time.
Regarding Thermal Conduit in Update 9, it's not fixed at all, damage is still the same.
A very dear friend of mine and veteran CMDR, did very accurate testing and found that it's definitely not fixed:
Here is the link to his channel:

This problem is still in discussion on many Discords where people tested and found that Thermal Conduit is still broken.
Please, we ask you to forward this problem to the developers or involved departments to look into this.
It is not fixed at all, the damage is absolutely the same.
Thank you very much.
And please do not ignore or moderate this post. Thank you again

something about it? the Settlement Reactivation Quest Item is not being delivered when I accept the Quest. the cabinets and box are empty with no items to level up weapons and costumes. shortcut keys are being erased.

I agree that the targeting problem should be really high priority. It breaks not only turrets on autofire and SLFs, but it's also hard to target enemies when fighting wings, and you are taking aggro from multiple ships in a busy place. I also have an assassinate deserters mission (taken by mistake), and when I start firing at the target it just sits there and takes it. If it's not fixed fast, I suppose I'll have to try CZs and hope that the combat isn't broken.

Otherwise I suppose I'll have to go trading and aim for Elite in trading.

Still having combat so broken in EDO for several weeks seems like a bad idea.. Is targeting broken in EDH too?
No, targetting works fine in EDH. It's just an Odyssey problem.

I don't mean to whine but this is going to sound a LOT like it. At this stage of the development journey for EDO, we are seeing improvements and additions rather that core functionality fixes. That's welcome, but perhaps it would be wise for FDev to consider more extensive testing to find these issues, and perhaps consider delaying substancial patches if they find game breaking issues. It is barely conceivable that the targeting issue could not have been unearthed with the most rudimentary of testing, yet here we are, with a shiny new lunar rover and combat effectively broken, and no date or information as to when this will be repaired... I can understand the pressure to release the early fixes which FDev did, but at this stage, perhaps the user base would like it more if what was released had actually been through some kind of Quality Assurance process?

So... we still CAN'T SET FIREGROUPS in some ships, is that it? (Tested in Odyssey)

I am flying my Imperial Cutter and simply can't have my firegroups set.

Patch 9.02 is due tomorrow? :(

For a game this broken...updates this far apart are a laughing shame! You guys really need to rethink the way you release these fixes. You are losing players every day! Game breaking bugs after 9 updates? Seriously? SHAME!

...its becoming really hard to be an Elite fan!

"than Commanders expected"? So what are you saying? ... that you intended the weight to be what it was and are now reconsidering based on feedback? How the hell was that multi-limpet controller constructed? I'm picturing a rack with some cheap limpet controllers in it and then a 100 ton lead counterweighted robot arm lifted from a JCB factory acting as the interface between the rack and the firegroups? 😆

Cheers Bruce and the team!
Much appreciate the quick turn-round by Fdev on some of these bugs - even more so, assuming they rightfully had the weekend off, so managed to turn this much around in 2 days.
We, the players, need to remember that these are people working hard to get things resolved, while having a private life to live too.

Two crashes today when:
1) Flying over a planet
2) Changing suit loadouts

Nothing special and I haven't been getting crashes before update 9.
