Update 9.01 - Patch Notes

No, targetting works fine in EDH. It's just an Odyssey problem.

I don't mean to whine but this is going to sound a LOT like it. At this stage of the development journey for EDO, we are seeing improvements and additions rather that core functionality fixes. That's welcome, but perhaps it would be wise for FDev to consider more extensive testing to find these issues, and perhaps consider delaying substancial patches if they find game breaking issues. It is barely conceivable that the targeting issue could not have been unearthed with the most rudimentary of testing, yet here we are, with a shiny new lunar rover and combat effectively broken, and no date or information as to when this will be repaired... I can understand the pressure to release the early fixes which FDev did, but at this stage, perhaps the user base would like it more if what was released had actually been through some kind of Quality Assurance process?
Do you not think this is an indication of the issue more likely being related to integrating into the live game, rather than a lack of QA? I don't like the way people always jump on QA as soon as they find something obvious, because it's the easy thing to do.

This is literally game breaking for me. I cannot play until it is fixed, as I am over 20,000Ly from anywhere scanning Biological life. If one of the new professions introduced in Odyssey is not working, should it not be a top priority? To not even include it in the list make me very concerned that I won't be playing over the holiday period at all.
You're welcome to join the rest of us this scrubs in Horizons.

Edited: to only refer to myself. Hopefully this will appease anyone that was offended.

Cheers Bruce and the team!
Much appreciate the quick turn-round by Fdev on some of these bugs - even more so, assuming they rightfully had the weekend off, so managed to turn this much around in 2 days.
We, the players, need to remember that these are people working hard to get things resolved, while having a private life to live too.
Maybe they should not release updates on fridays, then.
I mean, I paid for game and DLCs and not having it in a playable state in a weekend is kinda.. bad.

Targeting was bugged
Building ships and fitting modules was bugged
Exploration with exobiology was bugged
New SRV was bugged..

And all these issues were really easy to detect.
I can't help but think they barelly tested update9, if at all.

I love the game and hope they fix it soon, as it's unplayable for me, right now.

BUT they should really avoid updates on fridays.

No news as such, but we are aware of this issue.

Agreed, my expedition has ground to a complete halt. I'm waiting in a system with 11 sigs and have two other systems bookmarked with over 30 sigs between them. This is horribly disappointing!!!

I can play Horizons any time I want on my second account, and I do play occasionally. You keeping referring to Horizons players with derogatory terms, isn't helping anything. In fact it's pretty out of order.

My main account is, as I said, out scanning new biological life. So switching to Horizons wouldn't be possible for them.

Is it just me, or with the new update the FPS has gone down significantly across the board? I have an RTX 3080 and I hit 40FPS.... even in menus! I used to hit over 250 in space and over 50 in settlements!
Also - borderless mode does not seem to work as before, I can't for the life of me have my taskbar disappear (it did before) and playing in fullscreen mode is a pain in the butt given other windows I have open and normally access while playing... What happened?

So... we still CAN'T SET FIREGROUPS in some ships, is that it? (Tested in Odyssey)

I am flying my Imperial Cutter and simply can't have my firegroups set.

Patch 9.02 is due tomorrow? :(
OK, for those not patient enough to wait for a REAL FIX (who knows if it would really come in 9.02), here a way to set your firegroups in Odyssey.

1- Simply close the game
2- Now open it in Horizons.
3- Set the firegroup
4- Close the game again
5- Star the game in Odyssey, there you go.

"Beautiful" workaround, huh? That's what we Brazilians call "gambiarra". :(

Known Issues

The above fixes are designed to address the bulk of stability-related issues that arose following Update 9. We’re aware of other issues and are currently planning how to address them. They include but are not limited to:

  • Hostile ships not being correctly marked on the radar
Huge letdown... This is really gamebreaking, one of the major issue of this update and not fixed in first patch.

Without wanting to get into an argument, I would politely disagree and point out that if FDev are unable to detect really significant issues without releasing the game into a live environment, some serious questions need to be asked about the validity of their development environment or FDev's testing procedures and protocols. You have to admit, this is a serious flaw. Asking how this escaped into the wild, suggesting they look into the root cause and put some corrective action in place, is not bashing FDev, it's a perfectly justifiable question.

My firegroups are still missing. Why that not mention in known issues? Or why doesnt it say QA missed this feature and you will need to remap. Either way can we have some clarity on the missing firegroups issues.

In Horizons, the fixes seem to be working ok. I can now access the Livery screen, stored modules etc, without crashing. The only thing i've had to redo are to reset the Fire Groups settings, but that's hardly a hardship. Nice job.

I didn't say you were bashing FDev, but so often I see the something isn't working must be QAs fault.

I don't know how things work in relation to deployment for FD, but I don't personally think that some of the bigger things would be missed by their QA team.

Thanks, I'll might just go back to EDH until the targeting problems are worked out..

I think the thing is, there is no QA, we are the beta testers.. Not to pick on FDev in particular, this seems ubiquitous nowadays..

That said I think I'd really prefer a beta server and client where a new release could be polished before it's unleashed on the community!

At every release they could clone the player base data and build the next beta cycle on that, I really wouldn't mind playing a few hours a week to test and lose whatever progress is made, rather than have my main game continually broken..
