Found the inbuilt browser on the S3 wasn't showing the info box on the NPC field, it's for in game NPC'S so you might bump into a character you named at some point. Spooky!

It may be but not only. The NPC name you choose will be put into a pool of many names, to be chosen randomly by the game when generating NPC pilots.

Most of the KS pledge levels included adding your name into the NPC database of names. So they had to capture them at some point. And since they have to eyeball every one (to ensure unacceptable names to not make it through), the sooner the better.

The Frontier team will have the webapp modified so as add ons also attract the £15 pounds postage for overseas people.

Currently there are two scenarios for overseas people with add on items.
1) You have £15 "credit" and need to wait for the webapp to be updated so it can take into account the international postage.
2) You have no "credit" left and will be required to add £15

In the meantime my suggestion would be to add extra credits for those nice goodies that were a surprise to us all like the signed starchart. :)

Each message has a link generated for that individual, so it's 28k independent messages.

Which is presumably why mine has not arrived. I only found out about the KS fairly late (the second BBC article), so there are probably 20,000 ahead of me in the queue. But at least I used Michael's 'lost my password' trick to submit my commander and NPC names.

nah, 28k messages to individuals where the merge reads a list of options from a Database and the script autogenerates a link for each person.

coding that will be quicker than emailing 1000 individuals.

How easy that is is dependant on how "useful" the information is that FD got from Kickstarter. All that info will have had to be imported into their systems, with a different database, and then the mass mailer & web app would need to be coded. Some server software puts a limit on how many emails can be sent at once, so that would have to be coded in as well.

I think FD have done pretty well to get it live in the same month.

I finally got my e-mail and registered. Just to be sure, the NPC name is given to an npc in game and in short a way to immortality, right ? Will there be a way to search for it and be able to visit the future you ?:)

Not sure if this is the right place, but I'd like to make two minor requests for the "Select A Reward Package" page - https://elite.frontier.co.uk/backers/rewardshop/

First, could you put a title attribute on the truck icon explaining what it means? My guess is "this tier includes physical items", but my current tier doesn't have one even though it includes physical items. After mousing over the icon, I looked at the FAQ but didn't see an answer there. I wasn't sure where else to look after that.

Second, could you show the number of free slots in my current pledge tier? I'm in the DDF and would quite like to know how full it's getting. It seems odd I'd have to ask someone at a lower tier for that information.

EDIT: just noticed I can see the number of free slots in all tiers by going to https://elite.frontier.co.uk/backers/rewardshop/?order=1 - still seems odd though :)
